Ships Ahoy - Resident Evil 4 HD

Steam News announces the release of Resident Evil 4 HD (though the "HD" isn't listed), the updated version of the survival/horror sequel also known as Biohazard 4. The game's details all fall under the following Umbrella:
In Resident Evil 4, special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier instalments in the series. Leon battles horrific new creatures infested by a new threat called Las Plagas and faces off against an aggressive group of enemies including mind-controlled villagers that are tied to Los Illuminados, the mysterious cult which is behind the abduction.

  • Stunning HD running at a smooth 60 frames per second for the first time.
  • A complete visual overhaul has been performed to bring this revered title to the highest graphical quality ever.
  • Fully optimized for the wide screen, texts have been sharpened and textures have been upgraded on characters, backgrounds and in-game objects.
  • Steam platform support with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Trading Cards, global leaderboards, and full game controller support.
  • Native keyboard and mouse support with customizable key binding, mouse sensitivity, and mouse acceleration settings.
  • This new PC version will include everything from the prior iterations including subtitle support in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish as well as previously released bonus content such as the Separate Ways epilogue.

Yeah, I agree that 120+ FPS looks nicer than 60 FPS. I have a 120 Hz monitor myself. However, the difference between 120 FPS and 60 FPS isn't nearly as pronounced as the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS. 60 FPS feels great so boycotting a game because it locks you at 60 FPS seems... excessive.

What's wrong with 60 FPS?

What's wrong with 60 FPS? Are you serious?

Some people have screens which have a higher refreshrate then 60Hz. Mine goes all the way up to 144 Hz (or 120Hz with 3d vision, which I intend to use).

There is a hugh difference in fluidity between 60 and 120+ fps, especially in 3D and this for a game which current PCs can easily render at 200-300 fps

Pity the game is capped to 30fps and 60fps otherwise I would buy this game.

I've owned the Gamecube Version, PS2 version and the Wii Version.
I have played the original PC version.

The Wii version was the ultimate experience, the controller/numchuck setup worked flawlessly. It was and still is amazing.

I will pick this up at a 75% steam sale, and after the reported mouse/keyboard problems are fixed. I've given Capcom enough full-price $$$ for this game over the last 9 years. But this really is one of the best and most re-playable games I've ever played in nearly three decades.

Enjoying this now definitive version of my favorite game from that console gen. 60FPS is a huge improvement (though the option exists for 30FPS for purists). The texture upgrade is minor but it's better than nothing. Just don't do what I did and turn post-processing to full assuming it's a graphics enhancer.

I'm hearing that it's a great game but the M&K controls are terrible right now. NFO hump forums..

Perpetual debt is slavery.
