Diablo III Patch Adds New Loot & Paragon Systems

Battle.net announces the new version 2.0.1 patch is now available for Diablo III users in the Americas, noting that users in other territories will get the patch in due time, and that cross-realm play will not be possible across mismatched versions. They have complete patch notes, which are very extensive, as it outlines all the details on the game's new Loot 2.0 mode, as well as the new Paragon 2.0 system. The new version is automatically available through Battle.net and there are manual patches on The Patches Scrolls extracted from the automatic downloads for those looking to update the old-fashioned way. The update process is not yet complete, however, as this post explains that things are taking longer than anticipated, and the earliest to expect servers to come back online is 11:00 pm EST.

Once I've finished THIEF I'll install D3 again to see what all the new excitement is about. Always loved the graphics and gameplay but the game was boring and too ridiculously short. Worst of all, the randomly computer generated loot. I hear that's changed. Good.

Pretty much exactly what I wanted to hear. Amazing it's been almost two years since launch. Makes me wonder how it would be received had they waited. Of course, if that were the case, we'd still have the AH, and they wouldn't have learned from it's mistakes.

Somehow I'm guessing this wasn't an actual question but a shot, but for the record -- Yes, the expansion beta period is over.

Edit: grammar

I need to point out the new patch FIXES the horrible hit detection. This is such a huge plus since now monsters don't cheat and hit you from 10 feet away.

I absolutely love the no auction house and bind-on-account legendary items. Now I know people I play with have earned their stuff, rather than wasted money on it.

Overall, the patch is REALLY good. The smart loot system is very fun, ensuring you actually get good drops. Right now, without new content, the game is still a bit boring. But the expansion may in fact make D3 a VERY strong game, worth playing over the long haul.

I assume your toon was the Barbarian? Yea they got neutered. That's why I'll be playing my Witch Doctor and other classes most of the time now. Really I only played my Barb cus they were OP anyways. But I also have every class at lvl 60, so I have my pick.

Lot of changes, I went back to one of my first builds when I hit 60 on easy which was a mini-archon build. Started right up in hell and am face rolling everything in my path. Probably helps I have 114k dps after the changes through.

Yea, crank it up 2 levels - hahahah! I have a Monk that was a beast and was fairly easy to rock on Inferno MP3, and now I crank it up and it is harder than shit!

Looking at some of the class changes today, it sounds like it could be fun...

And hey, manual skill points in Paragon - awesome!

Jumped in - I am a little overwhelmed...and half tempted to start over....

very tempting to reinstall, I haven't played since 1.04 and the apparent direction Blizzard took with this game, I pass.

I also haven't touched on POE in a while, but damn I can't wait till Assetto Corsa goes full release!

A way to fight script kiddies maybe?

Haven't had a chance to play - hope to get back in soon.

With the AH gone and most decent loot becoming BoA I don't see why they would bother.

You can still bind "Force Move" to whatever you please, which has always been the case. Nothing changed.

I stand corrected. I was hasty in my judgement. Thank you sir for showing me the light.

Why would they do that? It is very common for people to bind move forward to a key in ARPGs. Really dumb.

As a long time, old fart gamer w/carpal tunnel, i thank you Blizzard for continuing to be the giant, clueless fuckwits you are.

First, the refusal of proper controller support in anyway shape or form for PC customers, and now this. Less options to the player i say!
Consoles get it, but fuck those PC customers!

I wonder if there will soon be a Blizzard in-store option to purchase more keybind options for $60 bucks so i can have the same choice as the console customers?

Blizzard, you're the best!..
