Steam Video Capture Utility

Steam News announces the release of liteCam 100 FPS Game Capture, a video capture utility for Steam games that's half-off for the next week. Here's word:
‘liteCam 100FPS Game Capture’ is a next-gen game recording software for Steam users. ‘liteCam 100FPS Game Capture’ has a minimal impact on actual game performance while recording and can record up to 100 FPS. You can record most DirectX 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and OpenGL games such as League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Minecraft, Need for Speed, GTA , Grid 2 and many more pc games with no lag.

Nvidia's shadows play is free if you have a Geforce card.

I have a 460gtx and they arent supported ( i think 5 or 600 and above only). Also i've never seen a GPU beat out a CPU when it comes to quality encoding. Also last i checked, its the GPU thats the bottleneck and not the CPU, so i rather save those precious GPU cycles for the game.

I recommend dxtory, its level of configuration is pretty great. I've got it setup to record in avi compressed format with about a 4-5fps loss, at really clear quality. 1 hour = about 10gb which is pretty awesome.

Same here, using the h264vfw codec which is fantastic

Also using that codec, very happy with it

Title should read "liteCam Video Capture Utility Released on Steam." As it is now definitely implies the Steam client had a feature added. I can see no reason why they even have the word 'Steam' in their product description, it's not like it's integrated in any way, is it?

MS had all the time in the world and all the resources to do what STEAM has done and do it on two major gaming platforms.

Glad to see that business model of selling their beloved OS is at least working well for them.

ugh

EDIT: Wrong thread. I'll just stfu now.....

This isnt really a 'steam' thing it's just another application on the steam store.

The title makes it sounds like its an integrated feature which is mislading

Actually I think the inclusion of the word "utility" makes is sound completely unlike an integrated feature.

I thought it was an integrated feature as well. I guess "utility" is somewhat vague. "Application" would have been more clear, but I still think many of us would have thought it was a Valve release.

No easy way to make it clear in a short phrase, I suppose.

I think the easy way would be to not mention Steam, or alternatively use the Steamships Ahoy title. I thought the same thing as everyone else. To my mind, Windows comes with a disk defrag utility and a backup utility, and this registered in the same vein.

No Blue, this does sound like it's by Valve and part of the Steam platform. Retitle it 'LiteCam Video Capture Utility Available On Steam' and it's an entirely different ball of wax.

Reviews aren't so great. I was thinking about getting in to the Let's Play thing. I need a sexy voice for it first though.

I would have loved to have used it while flying around my City of Heroes base before it shut down. I tried with a different utility but waited to the last day and couldn't get it working right.

The question is, how does it perform versus nVidia's ShadowPlay? I've been using ShadowPlay since they added the option to change the temp directory, and I love it.

Wouldn't it be nice if steam included such an app with steam at no extra charge?
