Adam Orth Making a Game - Deal With It

A preview on Kotaku introduces >Adr1ft, a non-violent first-person game that sounds loosely based on Gravity, as it "poses the player as an astronaut who begins the game floating above Earth amid the debris of a mostly-wrecked space station." The game was shown in prototype form at the D.I.C.E. Summit by Adam Orth, the former Microsoft employee who infamously tweeted "deal with it" to followers irate over the rumors about always-on DRM plans for Xbox One (which turned out to be accurate before MS reversed course in light of the outrage). In fact, Orth invokes this by telling them that creating the game was how he chose to "deal with it" when his tweets turned into an enormous PR disaster, and he suggests that some of the twists in the story are allegories to his experience. The project is being shopped around, with the hopes of creating a finished game for Windows, OS X, Linux, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Here's a bit that gives the sense of what they are calling a "beautiful" game: "Orth figures >Adr1ft could be classified as an FPX, a first-person experience, a decidedly non-confrontational game that will let players explore. They will also be on a mission, moving through five areas and confronting a series of procedurally-generated puzzles involving electronics repair. "

I guess it is safe to assume his game is going to be using an always online DRM scheme.
Wonder if it will be Xbone exclusive.

No it wasn't. Sailors on deployed ships could still use it to play a host of games; I know of several of my old shipmates who did just that. The Navy reserves it's satellite link for critical warfighting systems.

I think he was referring to the "new" XBocksUno (and it's original plan) and not the "classic "xbocks"...

What a pretentious douche. How about this for a twist? You were obnoxious in a public medium and people responded in the manner most deserving. This guy acts like he was bullied all throughout childhood or something, victim complex.

Are Hellbinder and Adam Orth one and the same? What about this story would make the reclusive idiot Hellbinder come out of hibernation otherwise?

When you have the feeling that everyone around you is just wrong somehow, what exactly does that tell you about yourself??

That describes more than a couple of the problem children around here.

I'm choosing to "deal with it" by never buying anything he's associated with. Adam Orth appears to be from the 'any publicity is good publicity' school of thought.

Actually no, I choose not to. Your game sounds boring. "first person experience", going around fixing electronics in space?

The longer this guy reminds people what a douchebag he is the longer it'll take for him to get on with his life. This guy is just a natural born D-bag. Embrace your douchiness, Adam. You will never be other than a douchebag. Case in point? What's he doing for his first post-MS gig? Ripping off a movie to make a game. CLASSIC douchebag move. I'd laugh my ass off if he gets sued over this, hahaha!

Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?

Heh, I remember using that clip among a couple others from the movie as the basis for an oral report on communication styles in my group speech class back in college. Others included condescending jerkwad Lumberg and cool, confident [hypnotized] Peter. Everybody loved our presentation.
