You forgot the biggest part:

"The Imperial Edition will also have exclusive digital content including the ability to play as an Imperial in any alliance"

Buy the CE and get access to a whole new race.

Wow, the game has only now just gone into Beta, and they are already pushing the Pay-2-Win button.

I hope this trend does not go farther than this, or the game is going to end up like every other F2P Pay-2-Win trash!

How is that pay to win? It's not like Imperials come with a machine gun or something.

Sucks for me...imperial is always my first choice, followed by Redguard. Means I might have to pick this up just to get the primary race I play.

Bethesda/Zenimax now has the pre-order info on their website here.

The only 'pay to win' related thing in the Imperial edition seems to the Rings of Mara that allows for an unspecified experience boost if you play with a friend.

The five day head start and ability to play as any race in any alliance seem to be pre-order bonuses for any edition.

While I'm not a huge fan of CE's and vanity stuff, in this case I don't mind giving them an extra 20 bucks for the Imperial edition bonuses because I've gotten way more than my monies worth out of Skyrim.

Thanks for the update.

You do have to get the imperial edition to play as an imperial. If you read what it says for the regular edition, it says "play as any alliance as any of nine races." Imperial is the tenth.

GMG was giving out codes today for a 25 percent discount on the game. I got the Imperial Edition for 60 dollars. Not a bad deal saved 20 dollars and considering the Mount you get because those things are pricy in the game and all the other perks that comes with it.

BTW, that code is a specific code assigned to your account and you have to be receiving email alerts from GMG in order to have gotten the code.

They know for a fact this game is DOA so they are frontloading expenses so that the suckers pay up front before they start complaining.

Yeah, got in on this, too. I prefer a boxed copy when I do buy games these days but in this case, I'm willing to go digital for the perks. Everybody can use the 20% coupon ($64).

They've not started offering "lifetime subscriptions" yet, which is generally the kiss of death...

So they did not just enter BETA (they've been running betas for many months now) and this is in no way pay-2-win.

Why did you even post?

Rings of Mara are wedding rings, BTW. So to get that XP bonus you'll have to be secure enough in your sexuality to probably marry another dude. AKA threat of pay-to-win abated.

This is a plain cash grab by Bethesda. When you charge $60 for a boxed copy + $15 a month subscription fee ALL non cosmetic content should be available to everyone. A monthly subscription fee means you are entitled to all the gameplay relevant content in the game.

Having an exclusive race would only be acceptable for F2p games or mmo's with no sub fees. Imagine if Wow had an exclusive race for people who only bought the collectors edition.

The race doesn't do anything for you.

Got in the Imperial Edition for $60.00 - thank you GMG.
/Might also get a boxed copy to add to my CE stuff, but right now it was a no brainer to get the Imperial for the same price as vanilla......

You've got to be kidding, a vanity pet doesn't do anything for you. A whole new race with racial abilities is a major part of the game.

This isn't Skyrim, or a successor to it. It's really not much like it at all.

I hate preorder bonuses like this. Gear, ok. Xp boost, sure. A race that you can't get without pre-ordering the expensive collectors edition? For me that's a pre-order bonus that says either I buy this edition of the game now, or I never play the game at all, period.

For some people maybe it's not a big deal, but for me that's a deal breaker and this game hasn't done enough to sell me on spending that kind of money for it.

I'd be shocked if they don't sell it later, but yeah, it's a shitty deal. Certainly not a good first impression...

There is an ongoing closed beta of TESO (not the weekend ones) which is open 24/7 and continually played. May I just say this game is in pretty rough shape. Being in the beta has literally shown me why I will never buy or play this game.

This CE/Imperial thing really was the icing on the cake for me. Besides the boring questing, terrible terrible loot, lack of group mechanics, no auction house, no housing, no dueling capabilities, and just general poor gameplay mechanics.

do they still have a text-to-speech engine for the NPC voices? that sounds so stupid...
