That's obviously a placeholder.

You've got to be kidding, a vanity pet doesn't do anything for you. A whole new race with racial abilities is a major part of the game.

And what are these abilities? +5 to speechcraft and a once-a-day power that boosts combat effectiveness by 5% for an hour? Because that's all the different races have ever offered in TES games. I don't even consider that discrete content, so to call it a "major part of the game" is just asinine. Playing an Imperial is just a different aesthetic, the most boring one of all IMO, so if you don't want that the digital Imperial edition is hardly worth the extra money.

If you can't understand how races are an important part of an MMO experience I don't know what to tell you. This could be a large part of your MMO identity for years.

Stop trying to justify Bethesda's cash grab, paying a $15 monthly sub should entitle you to all the race choices. There's no other acceptable way of doing it without trampling all over your customer base. This reeks of Bethesda counting on going f2p within a year of launch.

Ummm... who the hell listens to spoken dialogues in MMOs anyway?!?
For 99% of all gamers out there it's *click* *click* "Shaddap and get the fuck outta my face dammit!!" *click* click* *accept quest* --> rush to next waypoint.

This CE/Imperial thing really was the icing on the cake for me. Besides the boring questing, terrible terrible loot, lack of group mechanics, no auction house, no housing, no dueling capabilities, and just general poor gameplay mechanics.

I didn't hear it in the latest beta weekend - everything sounded good. Plus, why would anyone care about that. It's just placeholder stuff.

I saw significant improvements from a few beta weekends ago to the most recent one.

It is a place-holder. The entire game should be authentically voiced. Probably not by release. The latest patch notes removed the robotic voice-over that was used by the text-to-speech engine. Now they don't say shit if they don't have an actual voice.

How is that pay to win? It's not like Imperials come with a machine gun or something.

This is a plain cash grab by Bethesda. When you charge $60 for a boxed copy + $15 a month subscription fee ALL non cosmetic content should be available to everyone. A monthly subscription fee means you are entitled to all the gameplay relevant content in the game.

Having an exclusive race would only be acceptable for F2p games or mmo's with no sub fees. Imagine if Wow had an exclusive race for people who only bought the collectors edition.

This. The same guy who was early and paid a few dollars extra ONCE can be a freaking Imperial while I pay just as much a fee per month as him. It's so uncharming. We're not talking freaking vanity pets here. It's another RACE that most people probably wanna be due to the neutral nature of the race both in looks and stats. WoW released 1 new race per EXPANSION. People who bought said expansion got the new race along with hundreds of hours of content.

While I'm not a huge fan of CE's and vanity stuff, in this case I don't mind giving them an extra 20 bucks for the Imperial edition bonuses because I've gotten way more than my monies worth out of Skyrim.

This isn't Skyrim, or a successor to it. It's really not much like it at all.

I hate preorder bonuses like this. Gear, ok. Xp boost, sure. A race that you can't get without pre-ordering the expensive collectors edition? For me that's a pre-order bonus that says either I buy this edition of the game now, or I never play the game at all, period.

For some people maybe it's not a big deal, but for me that's a deal breaker and this game hasn't done enough to sell me on spending that kind of money for it.

I'd be shocked if they don't sell it later, but yeah, it's a shitty deal. Certainly not a good first impression...

The race doesn't do anything for you.

Got in the Imperial Edition for $60.00 - thank you GMG.
/Might also get a boxed copy to add to my CE stuff, but right now it was a no brainer to get the Imperial for the same price as vanilla......

Rings of Mara are wedding rings, BTW. So to get that XP bonus you'll have to be secure enough in your sexuality to probably marry another dude. AKA threat of pay-to-win abated.

You forgot the biggest part:

"The Imperial Edition will also have exclusive digital content including the ability to play as an Imperial in any alliance"

Buy the CE and get access to a whole new race.

Wow, the game has only now just gone into Beta, and they are already pushing the Pay-2-Win button.

I hope this trend does not go farther than this, or the game is going to end up like every other F2P Pay-2-Win trash!

So they did not just enter BETA (they've been running betas for many months now) and this is in no way pay-2-win.

Why did you even post?
