Any religion that claims its view of the world is the ONLY possible or absolute truth is evil.

That's inherent in religion, isn't it? You must have absolute faith and you can't believe <<deity of choice>> is all powerful and all wonderful if you're open to anything else.

The Ancient Romans had a wonderfully open Pagan religion. Its one of the resons the empire survived as long as it did. They were very tolerant of all the different religions/cultures they encountered as long as they behaved like good subjects and paid their taxes. Judaism gave them a headache though, and Christianity with its Jesus (BUT ONLY JESUS) for all was ultimately the main reason why the Roman Empire crumbled into dust....

Gift from god and not science eh? So the pope is saying god is really into porn in that case. The freakier the better.

With all the catholic priests abusing boys (and the senior level coverups), I'm not really surprised they'd be into freaky stuff.

no, pussy is a gift from god

Well, if the story of Genesis had even the slightest whiff of truth to it, that would be literally true.

However, it also means that we can blame PMS and normally sweet women turning in to raving lunatic bitches every 28 days on the Christian deity too so...six of one, half dozen of another.

"intelligent design" exists to co-opt science into bite sized pieces that religions can stomach so that they don't have to face overwhelming evidence that contradicts their dogma.

All religious types deny science. If it's a "gift" from god it's implied that this beneficence only came about because of god's magnanimity. It still implies "intelligent design". That's a denial of science and scientific principle because it's wishful thinking.

Intelligent Design exists to provide an answer for questions that science can't/hasn't answered yet. They can coexist in that fashion for any reasonably sane Christian. Sure it's a Deus Ex Machina answer... but well... yeah...

He doesn't say that science wasn't involved. From a (sane) Christian point of view, God gave the inventors the intelligence to invent it. Only the fundamentalists deny science - there is a lot of them, but they're a minority of Christians.

(I realise I'm taking your comment about 1004.2% more seriously than you intended.)

This Pope does seem like a good guy. From article: "Francis suggested that in engaging in that dialogue, Catholics shouldn't be arrogant in insisting that they alone possess the truth". Hmm.

Well he's the Pope so everything is a gift from God. But I do have to give this Pope kudos, he walks the talk.

A good portion of the women do scream his name, that'd be a nice ego boost for anyone.
