People need to trust the promise that you’re making, whether it’s people who work here or your customers.
Great point Gabe! How about all those broken promises for L4D?

we don’t track vacation time or sick time
That's something new I hadn't heard before. I mean its a logical extension of the whole flat management style, but I hadn't thought about that part of it.

I'd pay for an Alyx. erm, I mean... um.. nevermind.

Gabe Newell on what makes Valve tick.

Given how late HL 3 is I'd say the clock was broken.

Technically HL3 has no release date and therefore can never be "late".

Plus it took them 6 years to do the second one and that was before TF2, Portal 2, Dota 2, CS:GO and for the most part Steam itself. Making a regular old software product that people just pay for once and are done with is no longer Valve's M.O. If you can't use the game as a platform to sell hats, keys, cards, backgrounds, emoticons and other useless geegaws it's not worth making.

Peps lazyness they don't want to move there ass out to the stores and buy there games ,

I really don't think it's laziness. I've always disliked having boxes and boxes of games to store and/or throw away. Plus not having to fish out a disc to play a game is a nicer alternative; no need to go searching for no-CD cracks either.

Ever since game publishers stopped putting nice manuals and extras in the boxes, there's never been any real point in owning a physical copy.

Well that all sounds like a groovy, hippy nirvana, Gabe, but how about getting HL3 made and maybe bringing the Steam client into the 21st century and fixing its myriad problems and shortcomings?

I honestly don't think they have anything even close to resembling HL3. It is so far in the past I don't see them doing anything with it. Why would they even bother. The story kind of went off the rails anyway and I lost interest.
