Next Car Game Early Access and Demo

Bugbear announces Early Access to Next Car Game for all who preorder the demolition derby extravaganza through their website. They say all who preorder will get "to play Early Access and Technology Sneak Peek 2.0 right away," though there is contradictory word on Early Access through Steam, as they seem to indicate this is available right now, but later note "Steam CD keys will be distributed once the Steam version is available" (the game does not seem to actually have a Steam listing at this time). There is also a technology demo for the game they are offering to anyone who signs up for their newsletter. Here's word on that: "Since it’s a holiday season we don’t want anyone to feel left behind, and as a special gift we’re also releasing a free version of our technology sneak peek for everyone to enjoy! The free version contains a limited version of the playground scene that we use internally to test various features like car damage and environment destruction. By pre-ordering Next Car Game, you can unlock a lot of new additional cool content like physics cannon with missiles, new destructive machinery, more spectacular stunts and a ton of dynamic stuff to blow up!"

Nice!!
Going to check it out. What I've seen so far on youtube vids the tech demo looks very impressive.
I'll probably preorder it, I think these guys deserve some cash thrown in their way.

The tech demo is hilarious, but the cars smash up waaaay too easily. Hoping to see them be a bit more resilient in the early access.

I think that is the whole point of the tech demo to show you just how far the tech can go. I am sure the final game the car is not going to be made of pudding.
BeamNG also looks very promising with their tech demo.

Tech Demo 1.0 and 2.0 are a blast. 2.0 is great with the physics cannon.

I've been playing the early access pre-alpha (tried to grab some footage but it kept crashing while recording). Has a demolition derby mode where the visual damage is much like the tech demos but the cars can take numerous hits before becoming destroyed, two cars (American and European), and two others tracks (one dirt and one tarmac). All modes support 24 cars, which is absolutely nuts. Fun so far.

I've been having great fun with the Early access version. Its an absolute blast. I'm playing it via Tridef in sterescopic 3D which enhances all the flying debris. The stadium is great fun with 24 cars. Doesn't quite work in 3DVision unfortunately. I managed to fix the smoke / dirt shader to add depth, but the shadows are proving a lot more difficult hence I gave up and used Tridef Power 3D mode instead.

Multiplayer should be a real laugh.

Sold!

(I'm not paid by either Bug Bear or Nerd^3)

Edit: it actually is on Steam, although there's no store page. I got a Steam code and upon activation, Next Car Game was added to my games list. There's a 380MB download from their site (as well as the 117MB free demo) and a 1.2GB download on Steam so I've no idea what's what.

Amongst the most fun I've had this year, and the bloody thing is still pre-alpha!

Thanks. I didn't realise there was a playable game yet so that's a nice surprise and is more fun than any racing game I've played since Track Mania 1 (never got into the follow-ups). During Destruction Derbies, I've found that I've got an uncanny ability to go Leroy Jenkins into a crowd of cars and miss absolutely every one of them. I should try dodgeball.

The expanded physics test is even more fun. I'm sure the novelty will wear off but firing black holes at AI drivers is fun.
