Battlefield 4 Bug Tracker

EA's Battlelog now offers the "Battlefield 4 Top Issues Tracker," which will can show players suffering with bugs and other issues in Battlefield 4 that DICE is aware of their problems, and helps keep track of when they will be solved (thanks GameSpot). They note this is the first time they've made their bug-tracking public, adding that this is not a comprehensive list, and that they are working on smaller fixes as well. Here's the list of problems that are still awaiting fixes or that list the confusing "Fix live/in next patch" status:

  • EMP blur effect
  • One-hit kill bug where players sometimes take damage twice from the same bullet
  • Loss of SP progress that can happen after quit and restart on PS4
  • Game Mode ribbons are counted twice
  • 4X damage from miniguns when using Defensive specialization
  • Players sometimes get stuck in kill cam after revive
  • Bug accounting for a majority of crashes on next-gen/PC
  • Players sometimes become spectators while still alive in Defuse mode
  • Players sometimes get stuck in revive screen
  • Desynchronized game world where objects have different states for different players
  • Join queue disabled on consoles
  • Bug accounting for a large amount of crashes on X360
  • Squad spawn sometimes positions you under the terrain
  • Hit markers and crosshairs sometimes disappear
  • Rubber banding issues for some players with solid Internet connections
  • Some instances of no hit effects and no damage to opponent in your sights
  • Damage received is sometimes delayed by a few frames
  • Incorrect matchmaking on Xbox One
  • Server browser filters are not fully functioning
  • Sudden frame rate drops during certain in-game events
  • The "Sound Loop Crash"

Nothing beats Battlefield Vietnam for total lack of playability, though. And then they "fixed" it and it got worse.

But, yeah, Titan lag was ridiculous. Here's your objective, just be aware that one inside the objective, you will get about 4 fps, you will sometimes just fall through and die, you will probably not be able to actually get it to recognize you are trying to complete the mission, and forget about shooting because nobody is actually where you see them.

This is a cool idea. I respect the developers for trying to get this game stable even after they were told to release too soon. Good for them! Aside from the temporary defects, this game is loads of fun! I think I'll be playing this game for quite a while!

i wonder if the total lack of gfx optimization and abundance of bugs has to do with the upcoming mantle version release? as in, maybe they were focusing on that build and lost sight of optimizations for standard DX modes

i was waiting to play this but now im not sure if it will ever be worth checking out

The really funny part was when Bad Company 2 launched they had some pretty annoying bugs that they finally fixed, only to have those EXACT SAME BUGS show up in battlefield 3. Then they showed up again in BF4.

Hello? This is your engine. Can you not figure out how you got rid of these same bugs before? Did you not document it?

I'm enjoying BF4, but it has some scream worthy issues sometimes. Like, I cannot log into my server from my house. I can play on it from work, but not home. I used to be able to, but the China Rising dropped and poof, gone like magic.

So I was playing overnight - think I might have figured out some of the texture and gfx issues of the game, turned post AA off and all that blur shit off, can actually see now.

So I have decent games, 1.5 kdr on some roudns, even the others always within the top 5 or so of team for helping with squad stuff and positions. Still using the default weapons that are crap and doing fairly well. Then the issues start happening that I posted - so I get frustrated and go to BF3.

How come BF3 just runs 10x better? I just don't get it. They really dropped the ball. Not sure why I am able to get 700+ SPM in BF3 and have a 3x kdr, then play BF4 and barely get 200 SPM and even kdr. Just doesn't make sense. BUT that being said, the web browser thing is just plain garbage. It shouldn't take 4-5 minutes to join a damn game. I also don't believe there are only 3 BF4 servers running hardcore in all of NA.

This is just unacceptable on so many accounts. If I had paid anything more than the $20.00 I spent recently - I would be seeking damages. No joke. How they are not sued to oblivion is beyond me. The fact that people keep buying this crap at full retail at release.......wow....

Ping fluctuations from 43-600+ for no reason
Crash after 15-20 minutes of play
Server Disconnect (not whole server)

ugh. Wow they screwed the pooch on this one AGAIN!

With the advent of SSD the web implemented server browser works fairly well, they also can make improvements to it without needing to patch the client.

Battlefield has always had shit server browsers. They never learned to make a decent one. At least back in the day you could use Gamespy to find a 1942 server. back when Gamespy was a good browser.

Server browser filters are not fully functioning

Uh, that's not a bug. That's what we call, oops we didn't finish that fundamental matchmaking feature before we went gold.

You know, server filters, very simple concept to comprehend and implement, like first demonstrated in Unreal Tournament, circa '99..

Dice is terrible at patching. I think back to how long that incredibly stupid red/blue bug was around in BF2 and little has changed.

And yet, for some strange reason, people still give them money.

The rumors of a yearly iteration involving another internal EA studio just make my shake my head.

I'm pretty sure that was speaking hypothetically as in IF they did a yearly iteration they would need to do what Activision does with Call of Duty.

The next game from DICE will either be Mirrors Edge 2 or the Star Wars Battlefront game which is being worked on by both DICE and EA LA.

http://dice.se/games/star-wars-battlefront/

As long as it doesn't turn into swarms of players running around with lightsabers I'm on board.

I thought EA told their stockholders at the last meeting that their release schedule for 2014 did not have a BF game for console or PC, just DLC packs. There are rumors claiming that isn't true or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

There are rumors based on LinkedIn postings and other stuff that Visceral (I think?) is gearing up to do yearly offshoots with Dice. I really don't want yearly Battlefield iterations for obvious reasons, they can barely release a playable game every 2 years.

Considering how they just mentioned they would like to revisit the Bad Company characters. I don't entirely see this as a bad thing. Let DICE work on the major BF releases, let Visceral continue doing some stories for the Bad Company guys in between. I'd be down with that as I loved the characters. And it would allow DICE that 2 year release schedule for the main series.

At least in Rebirth's defense, their patches are currently making things a little bit better. Performance has gone up by ~ 20% for most people after the latest patch.

I haven't actually played BF4, but is it MORE broken than X-Rebirth? It looks like it might genuinely make a run at the "Worst broken PoS released this year" title.

Ironically the console versions are horribly broken, like barely functional at times. The PC version is better off but you still get weird dumb shit like sound loop crashing in certain maps, tons of bugs and balance related problems. I haven't played X Rebirth, I'm not preordering stuff anymore so thankfully I avoided that mess.
