Out of the Blue [Nov 25, 2013, 10:05 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
As I already mentioned, my darling Hudson the wonder dog died in the wee hours
of yesterday morning. We found her in the morning as if she were asleep, so
we'll take comfort that she went somewhat peacefully, and, very true to her
terrier nature, on her own terms. It's still sinking in, since we had a full day
with Grandma Belle's funeral, which was quite touching and lovely, so this has
all been a bit of a whirlwind. Speaking of Belle, I mentioned how the ups and
downs of Hudson's and Belle's conditions seemed to match each other until they
recently took turns in different directions, but them passing three days apart
shows they were pretty well in sync after all. I am beside myself with grief at
the moment, but I want to thank you all for your kind sympathies, as they have
been a genuine comfort, and leave me overjoyed that I got to share with all of
you so much of what made my baby so special over the years.
Just dropping by to pay my respects. I've read your page for years and always enjoyed the exploits of your little guys. She obviously had a great life with you... Please accept my condolences for your loss. They worm their way into your heart and just make it a very nice place to be. We've had 2 of our beloved Scotties pass away and it is never easy. We have another rescue Scottie (sorry just love the breed 
) who is lying by my feet as I type this and I am gonna give him a big hug after writing this, (if he lets me. He is quite the handful ) confusing the heck outta him, but just glad for his company and love.

I started reading Bluesnews in 2001 when Hudson was just a puppy. In the years since I have greatly enjoyed hearing of her exploits and eccentricities. I will miss my regular dose of Hudson happiness, as even in text form she managed to bring a smile to my face on many a bad day.
I was deeply sorry to read of Hudson's passing. I will always be grateful that you decided to share her life with us.

We can't forget Redwood's. Back then I bounced back-and-forth between Redwood's and Blue's News. Redwood drops in here every once in a great while to say hello.
I'm sorry to hear Blue, I am definitely a dog lover, and every time they go I swear I can't do it again.

I've been checking in here first thing for longer than I care to remember. Since early '97 at least. Over the course of that time, my interest in gaming has waned but I still come back here, not so much for the gaming news but because it's a part of my life. Anything I can say has probably already been said and I don't feel like it will help. I'd very much like to say something clever or wise here. To offer to help or to be able to help. I know that a lot of other people feel the same way. In the end all I can do is offer my most sincere condolences.

Wow, that's a flashback...not thought of them in years...
Registered just to post. I've been reading this site since the days of Voodoo Extreme and Sharky Extreme(lots of extremes! :), but I've always loved how simple this site has remained with a minimum of snark. In fact, it's the sense of quiet humanity that has always made you and this site a little area of calm in the gaming news world. Part of that, of course, has been your updates regarding your own life and that wonderful companion of yours.
Having lost a dear pet a couple of years ago, all I can say is Hudson was lucky to have you as a caretaker and friend and you were both lucky to have each-other for the time you had. Surround yourself with warmth and love this Thanksgiving week. You deserve it. As we all do.

There's probably not a better place on earth to grieve a lost pet. Everyone there will know exactly what you're going through.
When I had to put the little doggie that had showed up on my doorstep down (she had Distemper and was just wasting away), I cried for about 20 minutes while in the exam room where they had given her her injection.
Nobody ever said a word about me holding up other patients or anything. All I got were pats on the shoulder and even a hug from a little girl who started crying herself when she saw me come out looking like that.

There's this guy on the internet. He runs a site where he finds links to all of the news actually worth reading about the games that I like, and he puts them in a list. It's a totally OG Internet site, and I've been visiting it for years. I don't know this guy...
...but I'm still sitting at work choked up to hear about his dog passing away.

I am very sorry for your lose. Having lost my 2 year old German Shepherd many years ago when he choked on his ball, I know how deep and how long lasting the sadness can be.
Yet, as dog owners, we all know the day is inevitable, and I've yet to meet one of us who would trade the grief we suffer for the removal of the memories we had with our pets.
They are special indeed.

I am sorry for your loss, I lost my 12 year old German Shepherd last fall and it took me months to get over the loss, it was my 1st time to ever lose a dog so it was really tough for me.

I consider myself to be fairly hardened emotionally but found myself bawling like a baby in the vet's office immediately after giving him consent to euthanize my dog. I was a rock up to that point then I just lost it. Pretty embarrassing at the time, actually.

One of the reasons I come to this site daily is not just for the excellent, minimal and relevant content, but also the personal anecdotes. I am very sorry for your loss - I still feel the loss of my first dog 20+ years later. Turn to your friends, they are your best comfort.
