Call of Duty: Ghosts Lowers RAM Requirement

Infinity Ward Tweets that a patch is now available for the PC edition of Call of Duty: Ghosts. A post on reddit says that among other things, this lowers the RAM requirement in the military shooter sequel from 6GB to 4GB. Presumably official patch notes will follow. Thanks Eurogamer.

Confused why a modern game even needs RAM? Everything should be done on the GPU.

You're saying a computer doesn't need RAM? Maybe if register memory wasn't so expensive.

modern game

Oops, thought that said MODERN game.

Why are they selling this on the PS3/X360? They only have 512MB ram and I think it's shared with the GPU. Is there a N64/Amiga style memory module for them now? Strange timing with the new console coming out and all...

So the game that takes 2gb of operating memory is still alienating 30-50% of its audience by refusing to run on 32-bit systems for no reason.

Well played. The last time I've seen that type of stupidity, was when Tribes: Ascend refused to work on 32-bit systems for several months, and lost a huge chunk of playerbase, which eventually put it in a death spiral.

They aptly named it "Ghosts" because the game is a ghost town.

Just make sure to turn off Norton Commander before you launch the game to have more free memory.

I can't tell if that's accidental or Blue is doing this ironically, since I think he made the same mistake on the original reports of CoD: Ghosts needing 6GB

I'm fairly sure he's being ironic.
