Got a message on steam logging in that Metro:LL is available on Linux now. So it is hereby added to my wishlist for a future steam sale purchase... |

Thanks Jag. I'm tempted, but I'll wait to see how it develops for now. Asteroid physics and suchlike seem like they'd be important. |

It was an interesting concept which ended up as a disappointing arcade shooter, if this is more sandbox-y I might be interested. It is from the same developer. This style of game fits their destruction/deformation engine a lot better, and right now it is very sandboxy, unlike the distressingly linear nature of Miner Wars. The developer is planning on adding a "survival" mode where you get limited resources and have to defend against asteroids (I think) in single player or another team (I think) in multiplayer. Again, still in development so details are scarce.

It was like paper airplanes crashing into a brick. Has that aspect improved? Right now, asteroids do not respond to being run into. However, in Miner Wars, you could mine into asteroids and permanently destroy them, so this might be a feature that is enabled later on. |

Right now, you can build spaceships block-by-block and pilot them around. There is also fairly impressive damage and deformation when things run into each other. The game does use Steam Workshop, so you can check out how sophisticated some of the builds can get.
