Battlefield 4 Beta Changes

The Battlefield Blog offers thanks to Battlefield 4 beta testers for the feedback they've been providing DICE on what is and isn't working in the prerelease edition of their military shooter sequel. The post puts forth a lengthy list of changes they are making for the launch version based on user reactions, promising to address gameplay issues and bugs as well as technical problems like low framerates, high CPU usage, and more.

Haven't been able to play, same with most of my clan. Get the dreaded infinite loading screen and game eventually crashes.

Ah, phew, I thought I my aim was just getting horrible in my old age:

-Fixed an issue where the tank main gun did not correctly hit the center of the crosshair at all times.

also, thank Odin:

-RPG7 and SMAW can no longer lock on to Laser Designated Targets. It was inauthentic and not balanced.

Now, just remove the clip system from tank main guns, and this will be a clear upgrade across the board to BF3. (unless there is a perk to do this, haven't played a ton of BF4 beta)

I don't mean to stir things up but it amazes me how many issues BF4 beta has, after playing for about 6 hours personally. DICE, after, years of working with BF3 still manages to produce a very buggy, very poorly performing game, with many exploits and balance issues.

On the other hand, Call of Duty games don't use betas but always manage to release in a great, stable, well-performing state (except BLOPS1). Granted, CoD games aren't as expansive in their reach I suppose, but BF4 is so much like BF3 making the "innovation" point a bit moot.

So I'm left to wonder: would I rather have an ambitious "realistic" game that is a mess or a more simplified shooter that runs and plays great even if it is not so complex.

I guess the real answer we all can hope for is simply: Titanfall.

All you are setting yourself up there is disappointment..... judge games when they are out and in your hands and don't ever believe the hype ;p

I think part of the problem is that when you play a closed beta of one of their games everyone is on their best behavior as to not be a trouble maker and get kicked out. When you have the general public play the game they find all the dirty exploits and glitches and use them to full effect, DICE acts all surprised when this happens - but it happens every time.

If you're not a fan of Battlefield games then 4 isn't going to persuade you to change your mind.

I, honest to GOD, can not see the difference between 3 and 4! I mean, I didn't play the beta, so maybe there are obvious things, but in all the streams and vids, I didn't see anything that told me, right off the bat, that this was BF4...am I crazy? (or just stupid?)

Wait! Don't answer that... (I actually asked the internet if I'm stupid...yeah, like they're going to give that chance up... )

You are not stupid. They are trying to emulate Activision and their COD cash-cow, yearly Battlefield releases to fill their coffers with gold. Greed. Pure and simple.
I have a nifty blue line!

Going to simply buck the trend...I didn't have any issues with BF4's beta and I actually enjoyed the time I played with it. But hey, everyone has different tastes and what-not.

I did like the beta also, and I like Battlefield games but 4 just feels like 3 with some tweaks and new maps.
I am sure it is worth the upgrade for people that spend a lot of time playing battlefield but I am not sure I will buy the game yet.
It doesn't hold my attention that well based on the beta.

The commercial implies that this is like BF1942. Is that the case or am I being misled? I had a blast in 1942 and haven't really cared for the series since. Not that it's bad, it just morphed into something less interesting for me.

BF1942 is one of the few games I played for years.

How long was it in between expansions? Time fades the memory but it had to be at least a year (?)

BF3s were accelerated and this really put me off as it seemed, as previously pointed out, like a cash grab ala COD. Add in EAs legendary piss poor support and I have no interest in this one as a result.

I agree that BF4 doesn't look a whole lot different than BF3, I didn't expect it to either, I mean BF3 is already an incredible looking game. However with the limited time I played the BF4 beta, it certainly felt different.

It is hard to describe, but in Bad Company 2, I was pretty good, in BF3 I was/am terrible. Something about the way moving and shooting feels in the game. Now I know they are two different franchises, but BF4 felt a little more like BC2 than BF3. I consider that a great improvement, even though the beta ran terrible on my computer, I was able to hold my own and get some really satisfying kills. That is what is important to me in the end, if I am not able to kill anyone, like in BF3, than my interest fades, and frustration rises.

I don't know if anyone else had the same feeling.

After Bad Company 2 I expected better destruction, however I did forget about EA being the controlling party and they lowered the destruction in BF3! BF3 for me lasted 3 months before I uninstalled it. Now in BF4 I feel its the same as BF3 and already I was getting bored, blasting a rocket against a wall only to see a black mark instead of a hole.

I saw a few hackers and Dice said theyve switched their defenses off, I do feel that this game will fall again to all the noobs who cant shoot for shit and require hacks to win!

Battlefield itself is useless, the goal here is to sell the engine to other game makers. This Frostbite game engine is basically a self contained OS.

Let's make a FPS VR OS that will succeed unlike the previous failed ones.

I think it's pretty smart to not have anti-cheat active during beta.. come release a lot of cheaters are going to be insta banned ;p
