Guys, I played it and it is just not as bad as the major review sites suggest. It is a $20 game and worth playing for that price.

It is mass effect combat (not turn based) with a plot that works well for about 12 hours and then takes a really phenomenally stupid turn at the end.

Honestly I am playing Bioshock Infinite now and I am mostly bored with it. The xcom game was generally more interesting (well until the last plot twist). YMMV.

Ok thanks! I won't touch it with a 10-foot pole (the game, not the DLC if it wasn't clear enough).

Check out the Total Biscuit quick look, it should give you a pretty good idea of how good the game is and see if you'd like it.
It was enough for me to steer clear of the game and not even bother reading the reviews.

In short - it's a mess.

The original "Bureau" (the 3rd-person squad based shooter that has similar combat mechanics to the Mass Effect series) got mediocre to fair reviews, but I still plan on buying it on a sale because the premise and the vibe of the time setting intrigues me. Waiting for a 50% or maybe 75% sale, depending how long it takes to come down in price. Had it reviewed better I very well may have bought it at or near full price.

Yeah, the reviews basically killed it in the areas I was most interested. They said it was dumb friendly AI and dull, repetitive combat.

I would have jumped if it had reviewed even a bit better, but at this point my backlog is longer than I'll ever get to so I can't see myself getting this for even $5. It's less about the money and more about the time. I'd be tempted at $10 or $5, but know realistically it'll sit in my queue.

Ok is it worth buying, for someone who loves the tactical turn-based part of the XCOM-EU game?
You know this is a DLC for the 3rd person shooter game right?
