Unconfirmed Grand Theft Auto V PC Listing Shows March Date

Norwegian e-tailer Komplett.no now lists a Windows edition of Grand Theft Auto V, in spite of the fact that no PC version of the open-world action sequel has yet been announced. This is not preventing them from offering a release date, which reads March 19, 2014. They even seem to be accepting preorders for the price of 399.00 NOK (~US$66.00), and a Google translation also shows the following incomprehensible footnote: "The funding comes in addition £ 45 in bank charges and $ 295 in entry fee per customer. Credit Purchase price: £ 1,274. Full Sale Terms and yield. Upon purchase of more products, credit price will be lower." Thanks NowGamer.

Driving is (IMO) wildly better in 5.

I only played it for like an hour at on a friends console (I'll wait for PC release heh) but I didn't like it. Sure in 4 you couldn't turn for shit on most vehicles but in 5 if feels like cars have a central axis they turn on, not rear-wheel/front-wheel/all-wheel drive like any game with this much driving should absolutely requirement.

I'm sure with time I'd get used to it, I still think I'd prefer IV's. IMHO the best driving was in GTA 3.

As a simulation of driving, GTA4 was much better. GTA5's driving is the pure arcade nonsense that we typically get in open world games. That said, the control is now so responsive that it DOES drive quite a bit easier.

My biggest annoyances about the GTA5 driving are:

1) Nigh impossible to do a proper power slide. In GTA4, you could pull them off with skill, here it seems pretty doggone useless. I've tried with an absolutely souped up Dodge Challenger AND with a 911, and neither one of them can do it properly.

2) The hitbox on trevor's vehicle is just a tiny bit larger than the actual model. Argh.

Even so, you get used to it, and it IS fun to drive in this game because of the responsiveness, and the much more interesting damage model.

As a Driving and suspension enthusiast, I am going to have to respectively disagree with your last statement regarding the Driving Physics of GTA4.
I found the Driving Physics ridiculous. It looked and felt like driving a Car without functioning Dampers! riding only on springs with incredibly exaggerated travel.

Although I have not played GTA5 as yet so cannot comment on if it has been improved or not.

Driving is (IMO) wildly better in 5. Not everyone like the change, and it certainly took a bit to get used to (wildly swerving all over the road at first, the cars were so much more responsive), but I really like it.

FYI for anyone who hasn't already done this on the PS3

XMB Settings Menu:
Game settings: Upscaler=OFF, Smoothing=OFF

BD/DVD Settings: Cinema Conversion=Video, DVD Upscaler=OFF, BD 1080p 24 Hz output=OFF, BD/DVD Audio output format= BITSTREAM

Music settings: Crossfade playback=OFF, Audio cd output=44.1/88/192KHz, Bitmapping=OFF

System settings: Notification messages=DO NOT DISPLAY

Display settings: Screensaver=OFF

Security settings: ALL OFF

Network settings: Media server connection=DISABLE

Makes a very noticeable difference in frame rate drops while playing GTA5... or any game for that matter.

The Examiner is shit, and so is the source they cited, PlayStation Universe. Both authors have the reading comprehension of 8-year-olds. The original source, an interview with The Guardian, makes ZERO mention of either GTA V or GTA VI, them having "no plans" for whatever, etc. Here is the direct quote from the horse's mouth, purely about Rockstar's interest in the next generation of consoles:

GTA 5 is coming at the end of the console cycle. Does the advance of technology interest you? Do you think, 'Oh wow, what will GTA 6 look like on a PS4?'

Of course we're interested. But no, not in terms of GTA, because we're always working on the current game. We look at the tech at a more practical level: what will be ready for which game that we're working on further down the line. We don't have another GTA in development, we don't work on three of these games at a time. That would be phenomenally depressing. So, in terms of GTA, no. We get pitched by the hardware manufacturers on what they're planning to do and our tech guys come up with ideas on how that could be used. Does this influence design decisions? Of course. But we're not sat there fantasising about 10 years down the line. We're so busy with what we're doing right now.

The only thing you could possibly surmise from this, is that the next game they're making is not GTA VI.

The way I read the Norwegian text is that it costs 1274 NOK if you buy it using store credit. In other words if you borrow the money from komplett.no you end up paying 1274 NOK(~212 USD) in total(price of game + interest + fees).
That's correct. The site automatically gives you the details for a purchase using monthly payments. This becomes ridiculous for cheaper products due to the fixed fees (such as 10 CD-R disks for 900 NOK instead of the cash price of 59 NOK).

The article I read makes no mention of GTA6. They SAID GTA5.

That's not what Houser is saying (imo), the article is just trying to twist his words. He's saying that for GTA, they have made no decision, because they are focusing on getting DLC and GTA online out the door.

With the latest entry in the open-world crime franchise just released this week, it makes sense that the developer is not necessarily looking at a new entry just yet.

Another article that I read about the same issue basically made it clear he was talking about whether the NEXT GTA would be PS4/180 exclusive only.

As for GTA5 coming to PS4/180, I'm sure it will, unless they don't sell enough numbers. Rockstar isn't going to spend money on porting it if there's only a user base of 2 million. But since that seems unlikely, there will be a 'next-gen' version.

Rockstar and Take Two have stated that GTAV will not be coming to next gen. consoles. Then again, they could be lying....

That article (I think) you're referring to was actually pretty ambiguous. They titled it "GTA5 not coming to PS4!" but Houser was talking about GTA6, and he just said that they haven't made any plans for GTA6 yet, so it was way too early to say if it would be PS4/180 exclusive.

If they make a PC version, they'd be completely insane not to do the relatively little bit of work to get it to run on the PS4/180.

The article I read makes no mention of GTA6. They SAID GTA5. The statement was that there are "no plans" to bring GTA5 to next gen consoles. That means they are not yet working on it, but that does not exclude the possibility of plans in the future. They are porting it to PC, and trying to get that out the door currently, so they don't have time to plan for porting to "next gen" consoles yet until they get that ironed out.

edit - forgot source: http://www.examiner.com/article/rockstar-has-no-plans-for-next-gen-gta-v

I hope they fix the textures so they don't look like blurry garbage for PC. And the physics. Holy shit. Can we get GTA4 driving physics back please? Sure, turning off the wheelspin limiter is nice, but lose the fucking arcade physics. Annoying.

I wonder if they will release for PC before next-gen. How long will it take for the installed base of next-gen consoles to eclipse the potential market for PC sales?

They have already said they aren't planning on a next gen version. That's not to say it's not in the cards for later, but there are no plans as of yet. PC will definitely come first.

Yep. This is almost like a egg hunt, hype generator. It will be out when it's out. Calm down, play something else makes the most sense. Whatever your excitement level is for the pc release, it doesn't change the date in any way.
