Total War: ROME II Beta Patch

The Total War forum has the promised release of a new beta patch for Total War: ROME II, along with word on the status of the next official patch for Creative Assembly's strategy sequel:
We have taken the decision to move back Patch 2 slightly to increase the amount of fixes included in it. We will have more news on it later this week.

Before then, Patch 1.5 will release which contains one important fix.

Patch 1.5 will enter public BETA testing today. It will not automatically update your game at this time, you can download it should you wish to participate in the BETA test by following the instructions below:

Patch 1.5 Contains one fix: - Should improve Campaign Map frame rate in the majority of cases for those people with high-end graphics cards combined with mid-range CPUs. Those people who have noted high frame rates in battle but single-figure frame rates during Campaign Map play should see a notable increase in performance.

Oh and yeah, the naval warfare is attrocious. I autoresolve those every chance I get. A lot needs fixing in this game.
I have a nifty blue line!

I have seen 3 full stacks of elite troops camp in attack range to my capital and ... retreat. And inactive and stupid battle AI in nearly all my sieges it even attacked me once (siege battle!) with a single general unit. Walked up to the gate to "flame it" and.. died instantly by a random ballista

So no, the AI complaint is not over the top This is the worst AI of any Total War game ever.

So far Ive only seen this in two battles, but I do play a bit more aggressively and I usually rely on heavy infantry and cavalry a lot more so maybe thats why I havent noticed this more often.

I haven't run across anything that would make me go "meh" over the game.
Same here, however after the initial 6 or so hours I did not have time to play it lately. Been pretty busy with other stuff.
Overall I am enjoying the game, I am sure it is not perfect, but which newly released game these days is?
At least they are working on fixing it up.

Massively outmatched during a naval invasion of my city, I sent my meager garrison fleet of two ships towards the enemy fleet to do what I could. The enemy ships redirected to the other side of the map, formed up into a pretty formation... and waited until the time ran out. They then fled the city and somehow I won. I have no illusions that Shogun 2 had perfect battle AI (it didn't), but somehow I feel that it never failed to actually come at me, no matter how stupidly. It's only been a few battles so far, but I'm seeing really weird behavior from the AI in Rome 2, especially whever there's a dual land/sea battle.

Angry Joe's review of the game featured some absolutely hilarious goofs from the AI in this game. I think my favorite was the soldiers climbing the siege tower, then jumping off beside the wall, rather than going ON the wall.

It's getting to be ridiculous that every Total War game just has absolutely terrible AI like that, despite their promise (every single time) that they've put more people and more time into the AI than ever before.
If that's showing up early, then that's better than what normally happens. Usually the AI gets to a "okay" state, then something stupid happens and they break it. My personal favorite was during the seige's in Shogun2, where walls were missing on cliff based buildings. And your entire army could climb a sheer wall.

But beside that, I haven't run across anything that would make me go "meh" over the game. Though in the last week I've only added an extra hour of playtime.

Its fun. Even in this sad state. The AI complaint is a little bit over the top. Ive yet to see any glitching and if you micromanage your armies the AI will behave as it should.

The coding of the game is absolutely, horrendous. The game looks like ass, and it runs like ass. This should be fixed ASAP.

yeah, AJ's review was hilarious and informative, but also depressing... How come a game in this state score 80+ from more than 35 professional reviewers?
