Ben Affleck as Batman? Seems a good fit. This is the least amount of internet outrage I have seen over any casting in any comic book based film so that is a good sign. Paycheck showed he can do fight scenes, plenty of high level dramatic acting... Don't see the problem.
Yeah I'm starting to think there's a lot of closet cases out there on the internet. I have male friends who seem to care deeply about who plays Batman spamming my facebook. What is up with these people.

The guy who started the petition said Affleck isn't built. Um, did he not see him in The Town? He was friggin' buff, man. Physically he has the chops to plat Batman. It's just his style doesn't jibe.

I miss the old styrofoam containers.

Plus, that's just more proof that people are stupid (and have no memory)...

Edward Norton was a puny kid in most (all?) his movies... Up until American History X... Shocked the shit out of me... Maybe not crazy 6-pack ripped, but still...

This is what (fit) actors do; Buff up, or down, for a role. As much as people like to bitch about how overpaid they are, some of them work a crap-ton harder than most North American's I have known : )

People said the same thing about Heath Ledger, Michael Keaton and Daniel Craig more recently.

I remember expecting the first (with Keaton) Batman movie/character to be shit, but it was a great film... Nicholson also did a great job (though more expected).

As for Affleck, I'm not a big fan... I like him in some things, and mostly think he's an idiot, but I'll judge it when I see it.

Before his first Batman film, Christian Bale was 55 Kg, or 120 pounds. I don't know what weight Affleck is but unless he too is playing someone who looks like death, he's got a much shorter distance.

Most of them just hire a personal trainer and dietician to hang around them for 6 months. Changing your body is easy, particularly when you have access to the right kinds of training and food. Acting is hard

If I could grow a little more facial hair I could cos-play as the guy from Breaking Bad.

Is it bad that I've seen about 30 mins of the entire series and never knew it was the father from Malcom in the Middle?

While I was familiar with his work, it wasn't until Breaking Bad that I really started to appreciate him. He does an outstanding job as someone who's at their ropes end, trying to make things work.

Is it ridiculous for Affleck to play Batman, or for Wired to be reporting this stuff?

As for the NASA gear, I mean come on now, couldn't we make a full sized Sandcrawler with it?
