What? No, it doesn't, I don't know how you got that impression. The space between the analog thumbsticks is increased to give it a better proportion, it has vastly improved triggers and shoulder buttons, curved handholds and its weight to size ratio is much better. It is not an iteration on the Dual Shock 3 outside of some shared ancestry in terms of buttons present.
Go look at a side by side with the DS3 and DS4. It's obvious they took into account all of the criticisms from pro-360 controller people and sought to rectify those. I suspect you will be very pleased with the PS4 controller overall coming from a 360 controller. The Xbone controller is the one that concerns me a bit, it just looks weird in pictures.
The analog sticks are still both not where thumbs naturally rest.
This times 1000! The analog sticks are way more comfortable in the positions they're at on the 360 / xbone controller than they are on the ps3 / ps4 controller. Again, my opinion.
