I have faith in big N to get with it eventually, I just wish they would have rethought the tablet with the Wii U. I can deal with first party offerings being most of the platform since that's largely what you buy Nintendo for in the first place. The tablet though is a huge piece of shit. Shitty battery life, poor specs and its ramrodded in gimmicky ways into many games already to justify its existence. It sucks because in many games you can't just hook up a pro controller and ignore the dumb thing. This is a perfect example of why forcing Kinect is a fucking stupid move.

I don't know...I only got a 1080p TV 2 years ago, and only had a 720p from 2007, before that. Mainly because I'm a cheap bastard, TV is not all that important to me, and I was waiting for the prices to be a lot more reasonable.

But yeah, for the Wii U they dropped the ball with anemic system specs.

I'm a longtime Ninty fan but there really is no excuse for this. Unprepared? You had years to study the rest of the industries transition to HD. You have ridiculous amounts of cash sitting in the bank that could have been used to beef up your departments. I guess when your printing money you don't think much of the future. And while your complaining about having to catch up to everyone else, everyone else is ready to leapfrog ahead again. This company can be so stupid sometimes.

That's basically what the 3DS is. Tons of awesome games on there. The Wii U has some good stuff too, I just hate their controller and its weirdly integrated mechanic shit in their games.

The Wii U was just bungled from start to finish. Dumb name that confuses people, poorly marketed, underpowered hardware, first party game offerings were few and so on. They can't just scrap it at this point but a relaunch with a new name and a ton of first party games might do wonders.

... and a gimmick which just drives cost up and my interest down. GBA was where it was at. All the morons need to do is progressively increase hardware power in handhelds, not hamstring them with stupid gimmicks. When you're already many generations behind console power you should be doing everything you can to get as close to caught up as is possible. I don't need a fucking stylus to play games, I don't need two screens, and why the fuck would I need 3D when I don't even play my console or PC games in 3D?

I haven't personally costed the internal components of the system but I think it's an ok price on sale at $150-160. The 3D stuff you can literally turn off with a slider and honestly the 3D on the system is actually pretty good anyway, it's well implemented in many games and used for subtle effects unlike most 3D movies. I have never, ever used a stylus in any of my 3DS games so no clue what you're talking about there and the touch screen it uses is fairly cheap judging by the cost of replacements on ebay ($5-10).

I do wish it was as capable as the Vita but then again I don't want to pay Vita prices for a handheld and it would seem many other people share that opinion given its poor sales. The power of the hardware hasn't really hurt the 3DS anyway, there are a lot of cool games on there and the visuals suffice. I do wish it had the power to do AA in every game though.

Now the Wii U on the other hand I think is very underpowered and gimmicky, that's a big problem with third party porting in particular. Given that it's a living room console and devs grumbled about Wii porting problems in the past, that should have been a no brainer for Nintendo.

The Nintendo games have always been great.
The SNES may be the last truly dominant Nintendo console (excluding handhelds), but the N64 was infinitely better than the PS in my eyes, and the GC was the best of that generation for me, too. Those two consoles lived and died based upon first party games, but they were outstanding.

GC had Mario Kart (I'd argue the best to date), Smash Brothers (the same), and, uh... I can't recall what else I played on that system now, but my roommates and I were playing it 4 hours a day, 6 days a week for a long, long, long while.

Sorry but I agree with him. At my place there was a lot of multiplayer gaming going on and the N64/GC absolutely crushed the PS1/PS2 in that area. I actually miss those day, online gaming just isn't the same.
