Agreed.

If any first camera that I bought didn't work as promised, I would easily refuse the second, better, one for 'free'.

Thief 4 gameplay video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L67VurX81VI

I notice now that it does seem to be optional, so it may not be that bad...time will tell. But given the rocky history Thief 4 development has had, I'm not holding my breath on it being very good.

The dev also says they are focusing on a balance of Stealth vs Action, and waffles on stating whether you can play Stealth only.

So much love for Sony just because all they did is start charging for multiplayer?

Exactly
Is that even confirmed that you will need PSN+ for multiplayer?
Could it be that it is only for used games maybe?
For some reason I thought they said last night you will not need to pay subscription fee for MP games.

Current XBox 360 and PS3 games handle multiplayer by creating a P2P connection between all the players. You often generally play these games without an internet connection at all if you have multiple 360s or PS3s in the same LAN. So the network requirement for Sony or Microsoft is Low.

Theoretically some of the new PS4 games will use an actual server infrastructure, it may be that you will need to pay for these types of games as it cost Sony plenty of host servers for multiplayer. Who knows, I hope Sony says something officially about this soon.

I think the key thing for xb1 here is, they are very unclear as to how their policy will work. Several of their statements contradict each other.

"In our role as a game publisher, Microsoft Studios will enable you to give your games to friends or trade in your Xbox One games at participating retailers. "

"There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once."

"Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch, but we are exploring the possibilities with our partners."

Hey, y'all. Long time lurker, first time poster. Been watching this thread with interest. Especially the denials. I thought it broke down to the following...

Gamer A has no internet. He wants to buy a console for, obviously, single player games. Which one does he choose? Before E3 he was confused. After E3? Not so much :

XB-One? Nope
PS4? Yep

Guess we know where the money (and future financial support) is going....

Not everyone wants to play with the wider audience. Add in their $ too & those two groups together are likely to easily outweigh the 'I love me some Xbox' crowd. Case closed. Sony win.

Changing topics...They showed gameplay for the new Thief yesterday, and it looked awful. When in combat you slow down time and your enemies have target indicators on their bodies (head, torso, legs) that you use to choose where you want attack. Similarly, Ryse, which looks awesome...I'll likely never play because of the CONSTANT quick time events while fighting. I'll try it eventually, maybe it will play better than it looked.

I didn't see Thief but that sounds super disappointing, I'll have to dig up the video later. I know Ryse started as a Kinect exclusive and well, it shows. The gameplay looked utterly bland, QTE heavy and I don't know if I was supposed to be impressed by the violence but it seemed like pointless spectacle based on popular conflicts. Very very disappointing overall.

The Division actually looked pretty good if the gameplay can retain some variety instead of being a grind heavy thing.

Did anyone see The Last Guardian...anywhere? I swear that game must be dead.

Actually it seems mandated on one system, optional on the other. The former is restrictive and crappy (checking in every 24h for example, one license, etc), the latter is pretty much what we have right now.

So the executable of any game has to be 64 bit to use more than 3GBs of system ram? Even if the os is 64 bit? I think its 3GBs isn't it, that was the limit that 32 bit systems could use?

So this next generation of consoles and games may not support anti-aliasing? I think some games right now for consoles do not, rage for example. Is VRAM short for video ram? What is the difference between DDR and gddr? Ive heard and read that for large games like battlefield, video ram can make a huge difference, for storing high res textures for example.

Does anybody think that with AMD being the technology behind these new consoles, that buying AMD hardware for PCs will be advantageous? Game developers will write games to use AMD specs more than Intel (if such a thing exists), and AMD hardware will be better for running these games therefor.

Post Conference Interview with Jack Tretton

No limits on first party titles as far as used games go. Publishers are free to do what they want as far as DRM.

I'm not an EA fan, but I would like to remind people that EA announced less than a month ago that they were abandoning the their Online Pass for current and future games.

EA finally figured out they make more money including everyone and getting micro transaction revenue as opposed to locking out a large portion of the audience arbitrarily. That or they were working with Microsoft on implementation of their DRM specifics and knew what was coming. Oh well either way this serves me well as a consumer, it's nice to have some competitive choices for a change.

And yes, multiplayer on PS4 will require a PS+ subscription. But has other have already pointed out, the value for that service is very good. Lots of free games, discounts on games, a good feature set overall...which is more than I can say about XBL Gold.

Yeah, PS+ is the bar all online services should be measured against, amazing value for the money.

Wtf are you talking about? I just watched and read all the same things and NOWHERE do they state anything with any explicitness beyond what's self-applied FFS! You're reaching and you're creating facts to fit your view of things. It has ZERO basis in reality. Hate on MS all you like but if you think Sony is being entirely clear about everything you need to take a huge reality pill.

Again for the fourth time, they have been very explicit and I have been very detailed in answering your replies. In fact you tried to raise some concerns which several people answered with information from the conference and post-conf interviews. The fact is there isn't really much unanswered information right now aside from UI specifics and implementation details about streaming and such. People have answers to the big things. Will there be system level DRM? No. Will there be online checks? None. What is the price? $399.00. Can I lend, rent or share games? Yes. Go look at the graphic Krovven linked below, it is pretty clear.

The comment that they are being shady or evasive is what has little basis in reality. Before the conference they hadn't really released any information, after the conference now we have pretty much everything we need. You tried to bring up things you felt were lacking but people explained them so I fail to see what is left unanswered. Things might change in the future and people will hold them to their choices here but acting like there is some big nebulous unknown here is dishonest.
