LOL did he really just use the word "ecosystem" when describing Xbox 360? What a joke. It's almost like they are trying to alienate as many people as possible.

It's like that Adam Orth asshole.

This one had totally fallen off of my scope and then I kept hearing buzz about it watching E3 stuff yesterday and Metacritic has it at an amazing 96... and that's not a cheap 96 with only half a dozen reviews. So now I've got a potential wicked game on my radar that's coming out this week! ... Now I'm really in a dilemma as these days I buy games after a few months when the price drops.

Looking forward to see what Naughty Dogs gonna do with the PS4. That's one thing when people compare Xbox1 and PS4 exclusives, they forget some of Sony's biggest hitters haven't entered fray yet... though personally I hate the "exclusive BS" from both sides. I don't care that Xbox can play Metal Gear games now, have fun there great games, but it sure pisses me off that Dead Rising 3 won't come out on the PS4.

Yeah that's what I was talking about below, Don Mattrick said roughly the same thing in a video interview while talking about a soldier living on a sub who can't get internet access. Same Adam Orth shit.

Oh oh but he totally empathizes with him, mmmhmm yeah Rolleyes

I don't know how anyone can buy Microsofts bullshit about 'oh we really meant it was up to publishers' when they literally built a system to the do the opposite and are saying things like the quote there that basically amount to 'fuck you, got mine'. How about instead of a 360 or an Xbox One people just buy a PS4?

Wow, what assholes!

"I mean the analogy, and I don't know if it's a great analogy… let's say I live in an area that doesn't have cell service. I wouldn't go buy a cell phone. Now, I might roam in different areas where my cellphone becomes active."

"The 360 ecosystem is a great ecosystem for somebody that's in a purely disconnected state for long periods of time. We have built a natively connected device with Xbox One and we think the experiences are moving in that direction."

DEAL WITH IT!

Looks like amazon has now broke the PS4 into two SKUs - though identical:

The Launch Edition is no longer available.

The Standard Edition notes:
The standard version of the PlayStation 4 is identical to the Launch Edition. Due to high demand, we cannot guarantee Release-Date Delivery on the standard version of the PlayStation 4. We will deliver the standard version of PlayStation 4 as close to its release date as possible.

guess the "promised" units are all gone. Now those they selling now who knows when they are getting them in

Yeah, second shipment, basically. Looks like they've done the same thing with the XBOne, but it's "standard" doesn't denote a delay.

Big point for me is one never mentioned - M$ say it's down to the publishers. BUT they never mention what their own policy as a publisher is.

Microsoft is full of shit, they can't even get their own policies straight. Weeks after that disastrous public event their official policy page is still full of contradictory statements and 'we will get back to you' answers. If it's up to the publisher then why do they require online authentication and why did they build a licensing system into the console? You don't do that if you have no intention of using it and you don't do that when you're thinking of your customers. Don Mattrick was quoted as saying that if your internet is spotty, well just buy a 360. That's the head of the division, a clearer message could not be sent.

More powerful hardware, cheaper price, better attitude and treatment of customers, this console gen is a no brainer PS4.

OFC EA is going to bring online pass back to the PS4 - but Sony have said they won't do that for their own games. M$ seem to be playing the line that their hardware leaves it upto the publishers, but their publishing division hasn't said a word about their policies for 1st party games.

I'm not going to get mad at Sony for not doing the impossible.

Yep it's a dumb expectation, we don't have things that way right now, expecting Sony to singlehandedly leverage publishers is absurd. They're already taking enormous risk in going this far. They did what they could which is more than I can say for Microsoft who actually moved ownership rights backwards and expected people to grin, bear it and pony up $500 for the privilege in their quest for higher profit margins.

SONY's earlier E3 presentation was certainly suggesting more than "just like PS3" no?

I dont blame SONY for seizing the PR moment, but they hedged after the fact.

The exact quote was that the PS4 would "not impose any new restrictions" with regards to used games. Post-conference interviews they clarified they wouldn't be implementing any additional anti-used-game features into the platform. But they never made any claim of banning DRM schemes from their platform.

Anyone who thought Sony was somehow going to ban publishers from using any kind of DRM didn't think things through all the way.

What's DRM, and what's just an online game? Do people think Sony should force developers to have single-player modes and offline play for all titles? That may not make sense for every game. You think you're going to be able to play the console MMOs offline?

I'm not going to get mad at Sony for not doing the impossible.

Do you have a single fact to back that up?

He was very clear, that said, it doesn't mean we have all the variables yet. I also thought publishers had control on the 360 to make a game trade-able or not. Also his thoughts and opinions seemed pretty spot on.
