In 2004, the original Star Wars Battlefront came onto the scene and took gamers – and Star Wars fans – by surprise. It was an ambitious action shooter that gave players the opportunity to step into the shoes of their favorite Star Wars characters, pilot quintessential Star Wars vehicles, and relive classic Star Wars battles.
Fast forward nearly 10 years and gamers still have many of those same Star Wars gaming fantasies – but now they wish to experience those larger-than-life battles in magnificent high definition, with all of the amazing special effects, vehicle physics and gameplay intensity that the next-generation has to offer.
That’s where we come in. Today we are announcing Star Wars Battlefront, developed by DICE on Frostbite 3. Our vision for the franchise will surprise and delight fans yet again. We are inventing a new experience inside this beloved universe made with our signature DICE craftsmanship and commitment to excellence. The video we released today gives you a small hint at the direction that we are taking.
The teams at DICE in Sweden and Los Angeles are huge Star Wars fans. We are humbled by the opportunity to create a new Star Wars Battlefront for gamers and Star Wars fans around the world.

Origin isn't terrible. It has cloud saves, automatic updates standalone installers and unless a game specifically requires Origin, you only need to use Origin to install it. After that, you never have to use Origin again.
The one thing Origin doesn't let you do is download a game, then port it to a different machine or create a backup. There have been plenty of requests for this feature, and as usual, EA simply ignores its customers.![]()

The real issue is that people like having all their games in one library. For most people, that library is Steam. When you don't make a game available on Steam, you're forcing them to create another library and split up their games. That's inconvenient and really unnecessary when EA could just adopt Steam like every other publisher (except Ubisoft).
And if you put a shortcut on your desktop or in a games folder it doesn't matter if you're using steam or Origin.
There's zero reason to not by a game just because it isn't on precious Steam.

took gamers – and Star Wars fans – by surpriseReally? Because I knew. Playing the Star Wars mod for BattleField 1942, we were all aware that the modders were being sued by the makers of SW:BF, and had to drop the project, long before its release. Not much of a surprise really.

EA's insistence on using Origin for everything just makes me skip their games. If they get around to figuring out Steam then I'll consider it.
This, if it uses Origin it won't be on my PC...
in my mind......and i'm getting pwned...
