One Billion Hours of BF3

The Battlefield Twitter feed announces a milestone: "THIS JUST IN: Battlefield 3 has been played by our community for a total of 1 BILLION hours! You keep amazing us. #BF3" If answers.com is correct, this is the equivalent of 114,079.7189 years. Put that in your flux capacitor and smoke it! Thanks BF3blog.

I've never seen Deqer post anything even close to resembling intelligent thought.

That doesn't mean he doesn't search. He searches but then he can't comprehend.

Regarding Cutter, I can't imagine what he meant by his comment. People love this game and it is well done. It isn't perfect but what game is?

It is not my type of game and I don't play it but I do understand its popularity.

Told you.

This is why you don't use Origin, because it tracks you(no matter what servers you play on), and EA feeds off of that and has the nerve to announce it's numbers to the public too.

Why is that a bad thing? It's an online game. Their servers track connections, sessions, etc, like any type of server you've connected to. Are you really that paranoid? Any company has the right to know how often their users use their software.

If you are single it's no big deal. Or one of those lucky bastards that doesn't need a lot of sleep. During my WoW power-playing days I averaged 30+ hours a week while doing a full time job.

/facepalm

You realize almost ALL games do this, both single player and multiplayer? You're not very bright are you?

Um, you can do the same with most games. MMOs usually have a '/' variable to tell you how many hours you've spent (wasted) playing.

Steam lets you know, too.

BF3 isn't keeping me from playing new games (I have DOTA to thank for that), but it is great fun - when you're playing well.

If you're having an off day, it's insanely frustrating.
Also, if you're on a maze of an infantry map with 64 players, BF3 turns into "getting-shot-in-the-back-and-side" simulator.

And somehow this is detrimental to your existence?

I wish there was a good way to tell how many hours I've put into CS, CS:S, and CS:GO.

GO should theoretically be accurate at 222 hours.
Source says 673 but that's just a fraction of it.
CS probably would have the most for me but that predates Steam.

This headline isn't that surprising, I've been playing BF3 on and off since release, and I have just broken 220 hours. However I have seen several people with over Three THOUSAND hours, and one guy so far with over four thousand. Over a thousand hours seems to be quite common for the level 100 Colonels.

I don't see how people even have the free time to do that sort of thing, even if you are too young to have to work at a real job, that seems mind boggling.

BF3 multiplayer is still great; tanks, tank destroyers, mobile AA are still addictive as hell to me to use, and with a new HD 7970 3gb, I can actually play infantry on the Aftermath maps with a decent framerate.

The game has numerous flaws, but nothing that prevents random Conquest pubs from being insane amounts of fun, honestly. The cheaters seem to stick mostly to TDM and Metro stat whoring.
