Defiance Perks; Patch Plans

Trion announces a bunch of perks for Defiance players, admitting they are making amends for launch issues for the MMOG that ties in with the television series of the same name. The games first players will receive an exclusive launch-only in-game title of Daredevil and one week boosts to Weapons Skill, Scrip, Loot, and XP. They also offer the following list of changes planned for two upcoming patches, one expected next week and the next to follow two weeks later:

GENERAL

  • Improved server and client stability.
  • Main missions are now replayable after completion of the last mission.
  • Extraction timer upped from 30 to 90 seconds to allow more time for fellow players to revive you.
  • Optimized objects throughout the world to minimize pop-up and improve overall performance.\
  • Area voice chat has been improved and is now off by default.
  • Voice and text chat channels can now be muted independently.
  • Text chat now displays for longer and no longer hides when sprinting or boosting.

MISSIONS

  • General polish and bug fixes for all missions and side missions.

PLAYER CHARACTER

  • Bug Fixes

CO-OP AND SOLO MAPS

  • General polish and bug fixes for all co-op and solo maps.

It could be too much of the same events but you have a LOT of weapons so its still fun to test all types on all occasions

Overall a nice surprise, 8.5/10

I played the last week of the beta and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I went from nearly zero interest to *nearly* breaking my "Never buy a $60 PC game".

I didn't buy it but I'm constantly checking on sale prices.

Not exactly a run-of-the-mill shooter, it's a shooter in the same way Planetside is just a shooter. The difference is that Trion is trying a bit too hard to implement MMO aspects (scripted events, vector questing) to give purpose to the game.

The show doesn't start til Monday in the States, so we won't know about anything too much considering that the show takes place across the country and that whatever is supposed to happen in the game is supposed to be trickled in both ways.
