Diablo III 1.0.8 on PTR

The Diablo III website announces that the upcoming version 1.0.8 patch for Diablo III is now live on the Public Test Realm for Blizzard's action/RPG sequel. They offer full instructions on how to set yourself up on the PTR if you want to experience the improved monster density and other changes coming to the game. They offer a set of Public Test Realm Patch 1.0.8 Notes explaining all the changes, but at this point there's no indication of when this patch is expected to leave testing.

Come on guys, lighten up. No site would be complete without a resident troll!

On topic, Diablo 3 has been a huge disappointment for me (and countless others!). I've still been in denial, checking news sites for updates and patches. Nothing makes me want to play it again. The itemization issues that both the consolization and the auction house introduced have wrecked the longevity of the game for me. Blizzard and fanboys enjoy comparing D3's release with D2C, citing that "it only got good with the expansion". While I can't disagree about D2X making D2 awesome, I can't apply that logic to D3 because the appeal is gone.

In Diablo 2, I'd collect items because they were awesome, but in Diablo 3 I only collect items to sell on the auction house. The auction house was fun for the first ~2000 transactions, but then it became a tedious exercise of patience just to get the "most" out of the game.

Anyway, I could go on and on about how I'm a butthurt, longtime Diablo fan, but I'm sure some of you already know this. You already feel it. Blizzard's image is now tarnished from the entire D3 mess, and I don't think any patches they'll apply or expansions they'll release will fix their image or the core game (even with their "newfound" good intentions; after all, they do have expansions to sell! Better slap some face-saving fixes on the franchise inb4 console release!).

Get real.

Seems like no one can say the word "suicide" in any context without you all getting butthurt about it. "OMG, he said the S word!" "OMG, he said the R(rape) word!" ...

Cry me a river.

Turn on your curse filter, and customize it for adding the word "suicide" then.

How about you post something worth the space it takes up on my screen for a change? You're like the overflowing garbage can of this board.

In case it wasn't immediately clear to you, even insinuating someone should commit suicide in response to a disagreement about Diablo 3 is not acceptable.

"One day, should you decide to commit suicide--God forbid you don't"

Funny, doesn't that read as you want him to commit suicide? Wouldn't it be "God forbid you do"?

Anyway, I had to read the sentence twice to realize you weren't telling him to go kill himself.

Ya, after reading it, I sort of felt like buying some expensive items on the RMAH.

Yes, but we care. We care that you are being taken advantage of, yet you refuse to understand after we explain it to you. You're being stubborn about it?

One day, should you decide to commit suicide--God forbid you don't--but if you did, would you also say "just don't care" about the people around you you would be affecting by your suicide?

Isn't that a somewhat selfish attitude?

I understand all the facts. You act as if I am ignorant to the situation which I am definitely not. It just isn't something that matters to me. You can fight this fight as it is definitely yours, it just isn't mine.

As far as suicide goes, this is just a video game. Lets try to stay away from the extremes here, even if it is to just make a point.

Why would you support a company that shoves always-online down your throat for a single-player game? Even if the game became free, you shouldn't support a company that does this. You need to open your eyes a little wider.

See my post above.

Some of us just don't care. I understand it is a strong point for a lot of people around here, but for some of us it just isn't anything that matters.

Very first fucking item on the agenda:

Players can now identify all items in their inventory by speaking to Deckard Cain or by using the Book of Cain that can be found near the shared stash in all Acts.

Next biggest thing I saw: Tooltips in the Auction House will now show an item comparison for a player's currently selected character.

Things that should have been in the game since day 1!

After knowing that D3 has been consolized for the inevitable console release, who here still plays this game? lol... It's like you sit there with a smile on your face while Blizzard slaps you and you love them for it. Hmmmm???

Perhaps 1 year into the release of D3, the marquee marketing anal-ists over at Blizzard and Activision are quickly realising, that the RMAH royalties are not going to save this game, as even 10% of the initial player base is not enough to meet demands. I hope this opens up the game more to get over 50% of that base back, but it will require an epic expansion with dark lore to make that happen, with no WoW reference whatsoever. Perhaps that's a pipedream.
