SEGA® of America, Inc., SEGA® Europe Ltd., Gearbox Software and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products® today announced that its highly buzzed-about blockbuster Aliens™: Colonial Marines video game is now available on store shelves across the globe for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows® PC. A release date for the announced Wii U™ version will be revealed at a later time. The critical reception for the game so far has been pretty negative, and Eurogamer notes a this tweet and this one from sleuth superannuation pointing to this post from last year that he disregarded at the time. This includes a comment from someone claiming to be an ex-developer on the project saying at the time development had "been a total train wreck," and that Gearbox was only developing the multiplayer portion of a game primarily designed by TimeGate Studios.
Pitting players against the universe’s deadliest killing machine, the Xenomorph, Aliens: Colonial Marines is the official video game continuation to one of Sci-Fi’s most renowned movie franchises. As the authentic addition to the ALIENS canon, the game’s stunning visuals and adrenaline pumping action will deliver a breathtakingly immersive four-player drop-in drop-out cooperative campaign and four expansive competitive multiplayer modes – Escape, Team Deathmath, Survivor and Extermination.

I'm curious, did Gearbox develop the entire game by themselves? I wouldn't think the makers of BL1/BL2 would put out such a bad game.
EDIT: Nevermind, missed this part "... and that Gearbox was only developing the multiplayer portion of a game primarily designed by TimeGate Studios."

edit: It does make you wonder what's up at gearbox, though. They treat their own IP decent, while dumping out stuff acquired from previous devs. Guess it was a quick cash grab.

Eh I don't know why some of you take so much pleasure in this, people could lose their jobs and no one likes a crappy game. I'd much rather be proven wrong and have a cool Aliens game to play![]()

The last Aliens game which I picked up on a Steam sale for $5 was not very good either. I played it for a couple hours and then uninstalled it. So I do not find it surprising at all that this one would turn out to be even worse.

If a game is questionable I usually try the demo, no demo well then I check the reviews and comments from people who played the game.
Both reviews and the game's forum are filled with negativity.
So how else can I form an opinion about this game without paying for it?
If people loose their jobs over this game I am sorry but hopefully they learn from their mistakes and do a better job on their next game.

Worth a look at the right price I am sure, like most games.

For those saying "see its crap", have you played it yourself?
Verno wrote on Feb 12, 2013, 09:56:Agreed, It's pathetic and childish. I'm sure most of these people don't give two shits what the game review media say most of the time.

Given the release comments and reviews, I'll probably pick this up on a sale that has it at $5 or less.

This is why I dont preorder games as a general rule. Can someone who bought and is currently playing the game be bothered to write a few sentences regarding their experience so far?
