I'm going to have to go against the grain a bit here, I don't want more Mass Effect.
The gameplay was always half assed Gears of War with stats and wasn't really a big draw for me, it was a vehicle for the story. The story well...they sold me on the idea that choices and consequences matter but they really fubar'd that ending to the point where it shattered the larger illusion.
The dialogue and universe were much cooler in ME1, they started to pander quite a bit in the later games and I actually missed world exploration. Not the bland, auto-gen aspect mind you but the later games everything felt very walled in and consoley. The battlefields were small and limited as well.
So yeah I don't know, ME3 was a good game but it didn't inspire a lot of confidence about the next iteration and given EAs penchant for multiplayer pinning I'm worried that it will be some nonsense like Simcity where I'll be forced into arbitrary online related stuff.
The one thing I think could save things is if they do an ME1 style game (not going to happen because: EA), and make it self-contained. Then, your choices actually COULD matter, and it would restore a bit of the luster that's fallen off the franchise.
Also, early reports indicate that Mac Fucking Walters may not have anything to do with this, which is about the best news possible.
I'm cautiously optimistic, but even if I'll get it, it won't be on a pre-order, it won't be the expensive version, and I'll likely wait for a half-off sale.
Good job, Bioware. I used to buy your games unseen.
