The Capcom-Unity Blog announces plans to release Street Fighter X Mega Man as a free PC download on December 17th. This is a throwback-style 8-bit game, as can be seen in this trailer. Here's word:
As the Street Fighter anniversary ends and Mega Man's begins, we are proud to reveal Street Fighter X Mega Man, a free PC download coming on December 17th. This 8-bit-style crossover title stars the Blue Bomber and a slew of retro-ized SF mainstays acting as stand-in Robot Masters; beat them, acquire their powers and tackle the next amazingly re-imagined boss.
Again, yes, this is a free game, delivered via Capcom Unity's Mega Man brand page. Simply come back on 12/17 and get the whole thing on the house. As a real blend of two iconic franchises, it's an amazing way to send SF25 off in style, and kick off MM25 with a bang.

If Capcom funded him, I would say they deserve a lot of credit. If they are merely hosting the file, then not so much.

The game was developed by Seow Zong Hui who presented an early build of the game to Capcom's Senior VP of planning and business development, Christian Svensson at EVO 2012. Impressed, Svensson showed the build to several staff members in the Capcom office (including senior community manager Brett Elston), and the decision was made to assist in the development of the game. While Zong Hui continued developing the project as he did before, Capcom took over tasks such as funding, marketing, and QA.

Ok I was thinking it was some sorta DLC for the fighting game. I don't know if my hands can handle a old-school Mega-Man game anymore...
Alright. That looks pretty damn cool. Definitely have to snag this when it comes out
