LOL. Awesome. Is she one of those girl gamers (beside playing CS)?

She is a zombie nut - she has got 1100 hours logged in Left 4 Dead 2, is always playing Killing Floor, and loves DayZ. She is also a big Half Life fan - she has played and replayed all of the Half Life games, episodes and expansions many times. She was on a kick with action RPG's for a while but now it seems to be largely FPS's that she is interested in. She asked me for Borderlands 2 for Christmas - she played the first one for hundreds of hours. What kind of a father would I be to not oblige?

Just out of curiosity, how old are your kids, guys?

I've got a 19 year-old son who want to be a game designer and a 12 year-old daughter who is in 3 different Counterstrike clans.
Wow. Does she kick arse in CS?

Well she holds her own with guys twice her age. I know she owns my old ass while eating a ham sandwich.

REALLY want to get my hands on FC3 but I'm almost finished with Hitman:Absolution. Then I've already installed Dishonored for the next game.

P.S. Hitman is a game that can REALLY piss you off. This new scoring system SUCKS. But I will say the story is excellent & the graphics are really nice. 75% of the game is just snaking around guards & if you kill ANYONE besides the target you are penalized, get noticed penalized, dont hide a body in a container penalized, etc. etc. Then at the end of the mission they show you your score compared to others around the world/U.S. and basically it's like they are saying..."Oh you couldn't do any better?".......

Yeah I hate that scoring system too, but Dishonored was even worse for me, as it affect the later difficulty/ending. Because of the fear of getting the bad ending, I played as stealth/pacifist style till the end. It was frankly the most boring FPS experience I've had in years.

I know it's an awesome game, but I feel like I did't enjoy it as much as I should.

Far Cry 3 isn't all its cracked up to be either Tech. It's not bad, just not all that good IMHO. However there is good news. Dishonored is fantastic.

I'm really enjoying Far Cry 3 a lot, way more than I expected to. Dishonored is just...bad. The controls are clunky, the storytelling is awkward and forced, the world feels like a rehash of better games' material. I think FC3 is even a better stealth game than Dishonored. Hell, Dishonored is the only game I've ever heard my son vocally dislike before.

I can understand liking FC3 more than Dishonored (even if I disagree) but a better stealth game..? Really? You can get through Dishonored without killing or incapacitating any guards. You can't do that in FC3. Stealth in FC3 is basically a means of getting better positioning before you start killing dudes. Stealth in Dishonored is actually a viable way of playing through the game.

I'm still enjoying FC3 but it suffers from the same problems that most open-world games suffer from. Repetition and shallow, generic side-missions. If you can easily fit all your side-missions into distinct categories, that's bad. Every side-mission should be unique (like in Dishonored) and ideally have story elements (like in Dishonored).

As for the earlier comment about Hitman Absolution's scoring system, yeah, it sucks but not for the reasons mentioned. The player should be penalized for killing and incapacitating non-targets (and the scoring system does so). However, you can negate the penalty for non-lethal takedowns if you hide the body. Also, the game doesn't reward you for sneaking through a level without neutralizing anyone, which is by far the hardest way to play the game (or any stealth game). Also, your score is largely dependent on completing random "challenges" like equipping all the disguises or killing people in specific ways. These are stupid, especially since most of them involve actions that will penalize you. Some of the challenges are good, like completing a mission without using any disguises, but you still get the same score bonus for this as you do for the multitude of significantly easier challenges.

Hitman's biggest issue is easily that 90% of the missions don't involve assassination. You're typically just trying to get from point A to point B while evading everyone (since every NPC is usually hostile). This makes it feel more like Splinter Cell than Hitman.

FarCry 3 is quite good. I'm enjoying it and my son said it is GOTY for him. Of course, he hasn't touched AC3/Dishonored/Hitman:Absolution but still.

For 3 hours.

If you insist on playing it like quake 3.

Otherwise, no. I explored everything and had 20+ hours.

Yeah, I'm on chapter 7 now @ 11 hours and I'm loving this game! Turn off all the glowing and popups and it feels like Thief. This is a great game.

Well, I was being hyperbolic. I can't recall how long it took me, but I recall it being a short affair, I'm shocked to hear you could 20 hours out of that game, Id hardly consider myself one who rushes through games either.

It's a good game just not worth the current price tag, imo.
