The Verge reports that Microsoft is moving towards more frequent OS updates with a product tastefully codenamed "Blue" they say will be a low cost, or even free release that will be standardized across desktops and phones to provide more frequent updates. This is based on hearing from "several sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans," and expands on a ZDNet story from this summer that suggested Windows Blue was more of a service pack. Their unconfirmed report says a licensed copy of Windows will be required to take advantage of this, and a lot of it seems to be focused on how apps will be sold through the Windows Store. Thanks nin.
