Aaaaand the strong arm tactics continue at Redmond.
This is a complete insult to those that purchased Windows 7 within the last year or so for a gaming machine. There is nothing wrong with their choice, and W7 is certainly not old enough for EOL treatment such as this. It's a deliberate devaluation of existing ownership in order to spur sales of the new risk they took. Nothing more. The flippant reply of "we have nothing further to share" says it all. |

I suppose he could have decided Win8 was his last project and he was leaving after it shipped, but it always looks kind of bad when this sort of thing happens immediately after a major product launch. I also noticed that with his departure the two chief executives of MS' Windows Division are two young (and pretty) ladies. Good for them! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq5HYe0T-fI |

At first I didn't like Win8 either because of the whole Metro thing, but once I found that it is basically just another desktop window which can be bypassed, I didn't mind it so much. It allows you to directly start the computer to the desktop? Yep, all of those third party apps let you boot directly to the desktop and override the start button launching metro. At that point you're left with Windows 7 minus Aero plus a crappy flat theme. |

I've seen several explanations. A couple of sites say he wasn't a team player, and needed to go, while another said he wanted Ballmer's job, and Ballmer told him to take a hike.

We still use DX9 mostly thanks to your fuckery, MS. No loss here with not getting the decimal increase in DX11.

Oh wait, restore the Start menu via a mod, and it's Windows 7 again with a new task manager and pausable file copy. Fixed that for you.
