Diablo III Expansion Plans; StarCraft: Heart of the Swarm Early Next Year [Nov 07, 2012, 10:00 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Activision Blizzard's third fiscal quarter results are now available, showing favorable results for the period based on sales of the Mists of Pandaria expansion for World of Warcraft as well as Diablo III, and word is WoW subscribership has once again topped the 10 million plateau. Word is: "For the quarter ended Sept. 30, Activision reported net income of $226 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with net income of $148 million, or 13 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue rose nearly 12% to $841 million. Adjusted for deferred revenue from the same of certain game titles, the company said its earnings for the period would have been 15 cents a share on revenue of $751 million. Analysts were expecting earnings of 8 cents a share on revenue of $710 million on this basis, according to consensus forecasts from FactSet." The post-earnings conference call included another couple of revelations, that StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is scheduled for the first half of 2013 and the unsurprising news that Diablo III Has An Expansion Plan, even though the original version of the action/RPG sequel is not yet complete without the promised PvP mode.
Actually, the same people who have been "moaning and complaining" about the game since launch continue to do so, and those who played it continue to do so.
What is incredible is that every news post about Diablo 3 has to be followed with a pile of posters "reaffirming" their hatred of this game. As if they are going to convince anyone to STOP playing it at this point.
I suggest you find something else to focus your efforts on, because hating D3 isn't getting you anywhere.

Sad thing is, I read this announcement and realized I just don't care any more. And I was a Blizzard fanboy. Owned 'em all. I liked SC2, but now 3 years for the next installment? No.

Good loot does drop. It may not be orange, but it's still good stuff. The thing is, you can continue playing and always get good gear without the need to grind, which is much better than D3.
D3 has an additional problem where you do get "oranges" but they suck.

Heh quite true. Although I think their biggest failure though is the 0 incentive to play past 60. IE Level progression, and NO paragon levels does-not-equal level progression. Their decision to remove skillpoints from the game was their worst one. Which brings me to my main point. If it aint broke, dont fix it...

Diablo 3 has left such a bad taste in my mouth, there is NO WAY in inferno that I will ever even CARE to buy D3 expansion, no matter what is in that content wise, D3 has fucking solidified my principle on things that this is not how a game engine is to be presented to a veteran gamer that has common sense and integrity, unfortunately, fine traits that lacks amongs all current remaining D3 battlenet unwashed masses, and Gen Texters. Go play outside , man!

I can't get into SC and WC games, I did like WoW and Diablo 1-2. D3 = meh.
I would give a Diablo expansion a chance but I would definitely wait for reviews this time. Starcraft I'm just not interested in anymore, I have no patience for the monumental learning curve in laddered play and no desire to follow the metagame.
I keep hoping for another actual Warcraft game but I think WoW killed the chance of that happening.

Blizzard expansions, other than for World of Warcraft which I no longer know much about, are usually better than the original games. This is totally in keeping with them being honers, rather than forgers.
I still may wait for the reviews for the D3 expansion though, all the same.
Can't imagine wasting money on a Diablo III expansion since the current game is so bad. They would have to make a major reversal to even come close to Diablo II.
