Out of the Blue

Well I'm sorry to say the BlueTower is black thanks to Sandy. We lost power overnight, and I don't have an estimate of when to expect it to return, though historically they tend to be pretty quick at restoring electricity after outages here. Otherwise we are fine, and hope all the rest of you are equally safe. I don't picture being able to update the site through my phone, so I'm afraid I'm offline for the time being. Apologies, hopefully this will all be sorted soon enough.

Interesting in that link it says that fox:

"we certainly would have liked a crack at it but i get the play."

So my guess that lucas approached disney is looking more and more correct.

Good question! I've also had issues with logging in to Steam's 'Store' page for some reason.. I can log in to my account but the web page within Steam doesn't let me sign on.

Its called guy working on server got bored and wheeled his desk elsewhere.

More seriously, valve has NEVER EVER placed the #1 priority on delivering the store pages. When that is very nearly your only source of income, and when you can't deliver the store pages, you literally lose sales, you'd think that uptime for the storefront would be #1 priority. On EVERY SINGLE big sale, or big release, they have issues with the store. And every time, I check the content server stats and its always way below load. So its likely that its their load balancing that just plain sucks.

I hadn't read any of the actual news lately. I thought ya'll were joking about EP7... wow...

I was at the doctors yesterday when it was announced, and swore it had to be some kind of a hoax that got wildly out of control, until I watched the actual videos...

It still surprises me, but I think it's a good decision. I'm actually looking forward to a new SW movie now, and god knows that doesn't happen very often in life.

It follows the cycle perfectly, though. I was excited for return of the Jedi in 1983, then sixteen years later for the Phantom Menace in 1999. The Phantom Menace shattered all hope for another good Star Wars movie, so the next two I was just :-shrug-: "meh."

Sixteen years later, and we're getting another Star Wars movie to be excited about! With luck, I might even make the 2031 one too!

Since that was what the original Star Wars was, I'd be perfectly happy with Pirates of the Caribbean in space.

yeah, they are similar in terms of them being family movies and not a kids movie, but again my point was that expecting Disney to move star wars towards appealing (moreso) to an older demographic then what it is geared towards nowadays, seems unlikely. Especially considering who they were acquired by.

I'm definitely willing to check it out, why the hell not? I'm just not holding my breath.

So the BlueTower has no power for a little while, big deal. Long as its occupants are safe! Bet the dogs hated it though if the storm got anywhere near.
Huh? I'm sorry, I was thinking about cake.

They. Bought. Everything.

It doesn't mention anything other than Star Wars games, though. There's no mention of all other Lucasgames properties. It says they bought Lucasfilm and its technology subsidiaries "We’re hearing that the deal also includes Lucasfilm’s technology companies – LucasArts, Industrial Light + Magic and Skywalker Sound"

None of those things had anything to do with the games division.

It'd be cool if they did get everything, but Lucas had his shit set up in an extremely complex way. There were multiple companies all reporting to the parent company (LucasArts), that were all separate.

I guess we'll found out in the upcoming days.

We'll look opportunistically at console, most likely in licensing rather than publishing, but we think that given the nature of these characters and how well known they are, and the storytelling, that they lend themselves quite nicely, as they've already demonstrated to the other platforms."

Okay, you've convinced me.
