Windows: glass covered holes in walls you can fix with tape and cloth ;p
By the way, I read a funny study where they essentially found that every window is a 10% increase in heating costs. What does that tell us? Windows are a design flaw! |

I could go into the cellar with my computers, but the cellars here are prone to flooding, And I rather take heat than water. I prefer basements especially during the hot weather, but yeah floodings would suck. I used to work in a basement during my dotcom days. It was awesome. Who needs windows? |

32.4°C inside ;p | And... the temperature of the wooden window frame (in total sun) measured from the inside = 46.8°C Ah. In Los Angeles/LA, CA, USA, it is expensive too. 40 years old central AC is rarely used until the weather is too hot.
And why the frak is it still about 100F degrees in a few days for L.A. in the middle of October? Ugh! |

I have 5 fans But 2 of them (the HDD fans) were not part of the case. So yeah. Obviously I don't have heat problems now... that said, the base case setup I got "sold" had no HDD fans and I regretted that very badly on the first day of summer. ~.~ |

Heat shold not be an issue. |

Even if there'd be 4TB drives, I would probably only consider upgrading once I am convinced they are not a fad and nothing ever follows up, If we got just by capacity, I'd love to get 2x60TB drives and just throw everything else out. (out of my PC, that is ,p) not out of my general storage. |

Man that's gonna be a huge boon to my backup and storage problems.. but since I totally missed 4gb drives, i googled and found some nice read on RAID (that was the first thing I noticed, because my backup isn't raided, rebuild of a 2TB drive, takes "forever" so I opted for a straight mirror backup - one that updates gradually so as to not kill my meager network.
So here are the reads http://storagegaga.com/4tb-disks-the-end-of-raid/
http://blog.starboardstorage.com/blog/bid/148658/the-death-of-raid
So .. 4GB drives once they go full production (and holy shit, did I see 6TB and 60TB announced?) 1x60TB drive might easily take 10 years to rebuild in the current raid setups.. haha ;p So this will no doubt bring a huge paradigm shift on consumer level raid as well, because you can forget doing anything related to (standard) RAID with a 60TB drive. |

Yep there are, but they are a bit high in price because they are new and not every manufacturer makes them yet. Probably in the next 6-12 months there will be a bigger selection and lower prices on them. |

The only problem with that approach is that you need some decent advise sometimes, especially when it comes to cases and GPU (length, connectors, etc.) because I max out the HDD slots in a case, I have 5 HDD drives + DVD and they produce a lot of heat. We are talking without active cooling, these drives get to 50°C and heat up everything else.
Yeah, it is probably 20% more expensive, but I value my time I do not spend on building a PC entirely by hand much more than that nowadays ;p The OS setup afterwards is a pain in the ass anyway so I might as well approach that knowing that hardware wise everything works.
I would never buy anything from DELL or any large system builder though. I want to know who specifically built my PC. And I want 100% control over what PARTS are used, exception being the RAM, as long as it works and has the specs I want, I could care less what RAM is used. (I have 16gb) Forums are great
There are way better cases online for half the price. The right case will do the right job with 3 fans. My rig runs at a cool 31 C, and under max load only gets to 45 C.
