Kickstarter Policy Changes

There's a new update on the Kickstarter Blog titled "Kickstarter Is Not a Store," which follows that hopefully obvious point by outlining some policy changes intended to make this distinction more apparent when viewing listings on the fundraising site (thanks nin). This includes the requirement that projects list "risks and challenges" they face and that hardware projects cease using simulations and renderings. Of these changes, they say: "We hope these updates reinforce that Kickstarter isn't a traditional retail experience and underline the uniqueness of Kickstarter."

You know I think my real issue is that Kickstarter let it be on there for the sake of them (kickstarter) making money - and Penny Arcade chose to present it in away that I feel wasn't in the guidelines of what kickstarter would in force on anyone else.

You're right saying I don't support kickstarter is saying I'm denying those projects that deserve support - but I don't like that kickstarter made a bias approval that appeared to clearly fall outside of their guidelines.

And now I see we're making these changes - yet I'm sure there will be bias projects going outside of this with their approval - shouldn't all projects posted follow the guidelines? Shouldn't all projects have equal footing?

I don't know - it's just me maybe - but the original idea of kickstarter has turned into "preorders" and "large donations" to established properties...
