Kickstarter Policy Changes

There's a new update on the Kickstarter Blog titled "Kickstarter Is Not a Store," which follows that hopefully obvious point by outlining some policy changes intended to make this distinction more apparent when viewing listings on the fundraising site (thanks nin). This includes the requirement that projects list "risks and challenges" they face and that hardware projects cease using simulations and renderings. Of these changes, they say: "We hope these updates reinforce that Kickstarter isn't a traditional retail experience and underline the uniqueness of Kickstarter."

I stopped supporting kickstarter when the let penny arcade abuse it.

How was it abused? Penny Arcade was completely above-board on what people were buying. Nobody was deceived into believing they were getting something else.

Whether you believe something like that BELONGS on Kickstarter is a different argument. If you don't believe it should be on there, don't fund it.

I'm somewhat in the middle on whether it belonged or not, I just wish the PA guys had chosen to support Kick it Forward. (which, btw, almost nobody supports...)

but but but....(whiny voice)Creston(/whiny voice)....life is so much simpler when we can just make black and white assumptions about things and stop actually thinking them through to the 100 shades of grey that everything really is. Stop fucking complicating things with details and logic.

Next you are going to tell me that if I don't like MMOs I shouldn't buy them. (stomps off to room and pouts)
