Kickstarter Policy Changes

There's a new update on the Kickstarter Blog titled "Kickstarter Is Not a Store," which follows that hopefully obvious point by outlining some policy changes intended to make this distinction more apparent when viewing listings on the fundraising site (thanks nin). This includes the requirement that projects list "risks and challenges" they face and that hardware projects cease using simulations and renderings. Of these changes, they say: "We hope these updates reinforce that Kickstarter isn't a traditional retail experience and underline the uniqueness of Kickstarter."

I hope they protect the integrity of what they are trying to achieve, as recent reports about publishers trying to work their shadowy magic to get kickstarter funds are a bit disheartening.

I know that I, for one, would instantly boycott purchasing games from any large publisher who would try pulling BS like this. (..as if they don't give me enough reasons already to do so)

Edit: Holy crap Blackspace looks like a really cool idea! Definitely getting in on that one as well. Seems like it should be part of a much larger game though, but a cool idea nonetheless.
