The big boys haven't made their 100's of millions routinely on Casuals.

Wow.

I wouldn't call one company or more specific one game indicative. One side buys more games. One side buys more expensive games in general. And that side is not casuals.

On the Nintendo part of this, I think we all know people that had a wii and Sports and maybe one other game and that was it. That is why they have to sell the HW at a profit, they even know that might be all they get.

Casuals don't buy a lot of games.... BUT THEY GET A LOT OF GAMES MADE FOR THEM. Who's running the marketing depts of these companies?

Because casuals outnumber the hardcore number? Thus more sales?

What was that movie with Joe Piscipo? "Once, just once" You get so fewer gamers buying lots of games though. The big boys haven't made their 100's of millions routinely on Casuals.

That's their bread and butter!

Is it though? That happened with the Wii but even they weren't expecting the level of success it got and I'd guess (OK, more like hope) that they aren't crazy enough to think that will happen again to the same extent. A lot of their reveal the other day focused on more hardcore titles and the TVii thing seemed to be the more mainstream thing they were hyping. I think they'll definitely get some casuals but I think they know that this time, hardcore appeal is what will keep the system in people's minds. Whether or not they can pull it off is another guess but I think that's their goal.

Does Nintendo really want to court the casuals again? Isn't that market saturated? I can't turn around without kicking a casual game anymore.
