Black Mesa Released

They're waiting for you Gordon, at the Black Mesa Website, where they now offer the long-awaited first release of the Black Mesa modification to bring the gameplay from Half-Life to the Source engine (thanks ochentay4). Here's word from the wiki:
Black Mesa (formerly Black Mesa: Source) is a Half-Life 2 total conversion remaking of Valve Software's award-winning PC game, Half-Life.

Utilizing the Source engine, Black Mesa will reintroduce the player as Doctor Gordon Freeman, along with the original cast of memorable characters and environments seen in Half-Life. Black Mesa was built and founded on the basis that Half-Life: Source didn't fully live up to the potential of a Source engine port of Half-Life. As such, Black Mesa was founded to fully reconstruct the Half-Life universe utilizing Source to its fullest potential in terms of art detail, level sizes and code features. It should be noted that the project is being built from the ground up and is not a simple port of Half Life maps and models into the Source Engine. The idea is to remake the storyline used in Half Life into a new polished Source Engine version with new models, maps, soundtrack, voice acting and textures.

This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source to play - only a copy of any Source Engine game installed on Steam. For more details, check the System Requirements.

Yeah, if I was going to mention my third incorrect prediction of the day (the first being that the Revolution would be awesome, the second being that the Wii would be a failure, though that's debatable-ish) it would be my years of predicting that, if DNF came out, it'd be awesome.
I stopped that years before it came out, too, haha.

Has Revolution started? Is it terrible?

I meant the Nintendo codename for the Wii, back when it was all rumors about crazy stuff (at one point people claimed the "revolution" was being able to render hair realistically in real time.)

As for the show, not yet but probably.

The show starts Monday, though the pilot's been online for awhile already.

As for the Black Mesa download, two of the mirrors die out on me after about 450 MB, so I guess I'll wait awhile until it becomes more readily available.

BL2 is ready to roll! Bring on the guns!!

So it's not the whole game yet? Also how are the scripted sequences?

Mad Max RW, just admit you were wrong. Why is it hard for people to admit when they are wrong. I admit when I'm wrong and that teaches me not to pretend I'm more sure about something than I am justified to be based on the evidence.

You and apparently no one else. This torrent is barely budging. Which is a shame, 'cause I'm ready to seed the hell out of it.

(edit: took about an hour, but this thing finally popped open a little. Hope it sticks, I'm now feeding what I have at 10x the speed I received it)

Haha oh dear, well you asked! They aired the pilot on the web a few days ago and it is fucking terrible. The plot is laughably bad and even a child who doesn't understand basic science foundations would boggle at some of the leaps in logic. Most of the cast is wooden and has no chemistry. It's supposed to be post-apoc but half of the cast is wearing Gap while others look like they're attired in bed sheets. It is really hard to take the setting seriously when you have a lead who goes waltzing through the forest yet somehow has no dirt on her skin and perfectly styled hair.

It has Gus from Breaking Bad so I really want to like it. Don't get me wrong, a lot of shows have shitty pilots and go on to be much better. Unfortunately I doubt Revolution will be one of those shows.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

We definitely need to get a crew going on Tuesday night. Who's in? Four player beginner area GANK!

Sure man, hit me up on Steam.

I was just looking at the Black Mesa site, and thought: 'Wow, the gameplay looks great but the graphics are slightly dated. Maybe they should mod it with newer skins and models...oh snap.'

I swear that's true. I'm gonna download it anyway.

The graphics are certainly dated, but the stuff that counts looks really good. Human models, especially their faces, are as good as anything in a modern game. Monsters are exactly as you'd expect them to look. So far the only thing that takes me out of it is the voice acting. Most of it is great. But every once in a while you get something like young Eli Vance (offensively bad) or a dopey sounding soldier.

Yeah, I just checked out the trailer and it looks amazing. Definitely going to give it a go.

It's ok to just say you're wrong and move on dude, people will probably not drag it out if you do. I posted many times saying Duke Nukem Forever would never come out and I'm sure I've made several other silly predictions over the years.
