XCOM: Enemy Unknown Preorders; System Specs [Sep 07, 2012, 09:36 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
2K Games and Firaxis are now offering pre-sales of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, their upcoming continuation of the strategic elements of the XCOM series of counter-UFO games. This is available through various digital distributors and includes the incentive of the Elite Soldier pack, which offers "top-of-the-line soldier customization features" they say "will only be available while supplies last" (can you exhaust a supply of digital content?). They also announce that those who pre-purchase the game through Steam have the opportunity to unlock incentives based on the number of other preorders: "If enough people pre-order XCOM: Enemy Unknown , they will unlock 3 exclusive XCOM-themed items in Team Fortress 2. If even more people pre-order, they will unlock a free copy of Firaxis’s other big title, Civilization V (and yes, you can gift it to a friend if you already own it)." Finally, with about a month to go before the game's release, they provide us with its system requirements:

It's a reimagining of Xcom, not an actual remake. For the remake, you need to look at Xenonauts.

Wow, kudos to a developer actually recommending old graphics cards instead of completely unnecessarily recommending the latest, most expensive ones they could find.

Be warned that if you care about the pre-order bonuses, orders from non-steam vendors don't always come with all of them.
(From my experience usually its the TF2 items that only come from steam pre-orders, and one gets the other pre-order bonuses regardless of where purchased).
Also, for those still running XP, its possible this runs fine on XP but is one of those "not officially supported" deals. I've seen some games like that. I'm running windows 7, but I think some on blues are still XP. If thats you, then you may want to wait for confirmation that it runs in XP before buying, or upgrade your OS

I'm in. I haven't even bought Skyrim yet, I plan on skipping Borderlands 2 but I wouldn't miss this one.

Yeah, that's pretty lame. I have to assume that 2K set that arbitrary requirement so that GMG's sales wouldn't cannibalize Steam's. Very lame, though.

In the photo yours says XCOM: Enemy Unknown but my cart says: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (NA). Different region perhaps (I'm in North America)?

The capital GMG in the code might be your first clue...
