So yeah, remember, rape in Sweden is legal sex everywhere else

And legal sex in Japan is rape everywhere else.

I really doubt they'd storm the embassy, it would put their own diplomats living in less friendly nations under huge threat. Still, this whole affair is pretty disgusting.

Actually there has been no threats what so ever to storm embassy. On the contrary UK has said repeatedly that they will NOT storm the embassy and are simply waiting for Assange to leave it. As for Sweden there is a girl who claims Assange raped her. He was questioned in sweden and then RELEASED with orders not to leave the country which he broke and ran to UK. That is the real reason for the custody in England and also the reason he is called back to Sweden (to stand trial for the alledged rape).

And obviously everything that the UK and Sweden says is the utter and absolute truth without any ulterior motives whatsoever because governments never, ever lie.

You can't be that naive, can you?

Also, it appears the Latin America countries, Brazil included, are now together in being pro-Assange and against the UK and the US. Not a good thing for the US to have its southern neighbors against it.

Assange also said in its public speech yesterday that UK officers did indeed try to storm the embassy and were only stopped by a reminder that the world media was focused there and embassy personnel could easily call all of them to film what was happening.

This may be the biggest threat against free speech in the past 30 years or so and it's done by a country who keeps saying loves free speech. Fucking disgraceful.

Also, the Swedish authorities could have sent someone to the UK to interrogate Assange who said he would be ready to be interrogated that way. As someone said, Sweden only wants to get Assange so they can deport him to the US where he will face a trial that not only is a sham, it's also completely illegal under any law since he is not a fucking US citizen.

People now have to run away to exile from the US in order to preserve their human rights. Sad affair really and in this case I hope Assange wins because if the US get their way the implications that will carry for the future of us all are very, very grim and dark indeed.

The US keeps fighting the wrong battles. This just makes us appear powerless to a global audience, he's one guy who released some embarrassing information.

Why isnt the case tried in his absence??? Its not like it hasnt happened before. Well for one thing there have been no "formal" charges brought against Assange in a Swedish court of Law. He is wanted for questioning by the Swedish prosecutor, according to the Laws of the EU this is enough for an extradiction.

The Swedish prosecution knows that they have no case in a court of Law, all they want is to get him to Sweden so they can ship him to the States.

But like someone above me said, most people dont give a shit, and even accusing someone of rape is enough to discredit them with 99% of the population...

Except what counts as rape in Sweden is legal and not a crime in all other nations on this planet including lovely vacation locations such as Burma, Ecuador or USA. But don't let that get in the way of your opinion. ;p

And the only thing that makes it illegal in Sweden, is a women's right to declare, after having consensual sex, that she wanted the dude to wear a condom and he refused. Even if that is a lie, even if that is only brought to a police 3 weeks later after talking to her rival. Even if that charge was already dropped for "obvious lie" and now picked up again for mysterious reasons (more mysterious, because the "victims" don't seem to be able to recall specifics of this terrible crime at all.....)

90% (80%?) of "leaks" are just things that are embarassing, usually politically, to a political party or administration or individual.
but wholesale release of unchecked documents that they don't know what they're looking at anyway... it's chaos, it's folly, and while Assange isn't an American anyway i'm sure our actual enemies LOVED to get their hands on it all. Assange is a piece of shit self serving narcissist.
Manning is someone i can feel more pity for, but when he just decided "fuck it, i'm going to get EVERYTHING i can!" and went crazy downloading everything his clearance let him access and just shipped it all to a douchebag foreign national, he went from "whistle blower" to "dangerous dumbfuck".
throw them all into a volcano.

Assange is seeking asylum in another country to escape violations against human rights made by the US on his person.

That's how fucking crazy this situation is, the US is actually being the bad guy and relishing it, not realizing the whole world is watching the US being fucking bullies to silence someone who didn't break any laws in the country he was at at the time of the leaks. A huge throwback from when the US were a safe haven for people running from injustice, now people run away from the US to other safe havens due to US twisted sense of justice.

Assage made the great mistake many others like him have, and that's not realizing that most people simply don't care.

He is already move famous than the pope.... what a dazzling showcase of political craziness. He didn't even do anything, Wikileaks was always run by others, the actual leaks came from other sources. This is the most absolutely stupid political case of suppression of free speech ever shown in the western world. Maybe worse, should they silence Wikileaks for good other, much more hardcore secure sites will pop up with 0 regard to names, numbers or other peoples lives. If that's what the UK and US wants...
