PAYDAY - The Heist Wolfpack DLC Released

The PAYDAY - The Heist Website now offers online sales of Wolfpack, the first DLC for the crime game, adding "new heists, new tactics, advanced gameplay and bigger payouts." Not coincidently, the game is currently on sale on Steam for 75% off. Here's word on the DLC:

Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) and OVERKILL Software today announced the availability of the very first DLC for PAYDAY™: The Heist - 'Wolfpack', which provides criminal masterminds with new heists, new tactics, advanced gameplay and bigger payouts. Wolfpack is now available via digital download on the PlayStation®Network and PC systems.

The Wolfpack DLC equips players with new weapons, equipment and skills to help get the ultimate score. The DLC pack also come equipped with two never before seen epic heists -- 'Undercover' and 'Counterfeit'. The 'Undercover' heist, which takes place in Washington D.C., forces players to drive away the pesky police interrupting a back alley deal, while the 'Counterfeit' heist pressures players to use silenced weapons to keep whistle blowing civilians from escaping a underground money printing gig and blowing the whole operation by telling the 5-0.

Key features of this DLC include:

  • New Weapons: Got a problem? Solve it by spraying some lead on the move with the all-new auto handgun and assault rifle. Want people to fear you? Show them the shiny new grenade launcher; it will blow them away, literally. Need someone to watch your back? Release the brand new deployablesentry gun to take out your enemies.
  • The Technician: Based on the character Wolf, the technician is a man who knows how to get things done. With a new skill set and equipment, the technician is a techno-sociopath using the sentry-gun and tool kit.
  • One Pays, All Plays: Got friends in high places? If you are tight on cash until the next score, all you need is a friend with the content. The new heists can only be hosted if you own the DLC, but anyone with the base game can join for free.
  • Just When You Think You Are Out, They Pull You Back In: With all new trophies and achievements there is a whole lot more for you to brag about. Also, the sky is the limit with a raised level cap.

The Wolfpack DLC pack can now be downloaded on the PlayStation®Network and PC systems for USD $9.99. For more information please visit: www.payday-theheist.com.

Hi, I have only had time to play 2 levels but yes the bots remain what bots always have been. That said, they fight the incoming forces so you can complete your objectives. There is a delay if you run to the other side of the building for anothe robjective for them to catch up. I was hoping for more SWAT (4 i think?) bots that you could ask to enter, toss bombs in room, etc but I have also gotten used to counting on bots to just blindly fight and assist in that way.

Ill tell ya what, for 5 bucks? It's a nice change from the "pay to play to get anything worthwhile only to find out what you get is pretty worthless a week later anyway" model. Long name, but you know.

Steam says 9 of my friends have it, but I never see anyone playing it.

I went ahead and grabbed it yesterday. Based on my steam queue, I anticipate the spring of 2014 to install it...

I need to play this more. I played it the other week when they released that new map. I think I'm level 10 or something and was playing with people 80+, and never got kicked for being low level. I'm not going to get this DLC though. Ten bucks for 2 levels and some weapons is a bit much. I'd probably get it for $5, definitely for $2.50-$3.

Steam says 9 of my friends have it, but I never see anyone playing it.

Gnarl. My biggest complain about Payday is that really NOBODY on my Steam FL wanted to play it at release - so I bought it for the PS3 and reached a nice level there.
Since the last summer sale suddenly 14 Steam friends play Payday and on the PS3 it's dead. Curses!

I bet if I'd buy it once more and reach level 100, it would switch to the opposite once more.

Ditto. I've had a strange addiction to this one too.. perhaps since I unlocked that superbly overpowered reinbeck shotgun.

I honestly don't game as much but since it has AI players to play with and looks like a reverse SWAT type of game I am buying it now. I mean, 5 bucks? Why not?

Let me know what you think of the bots. I'd heard they weren't great, but I'd also like to check the game out...

Buy it, or I will be forced to gift it to you!

I'll probably grab it. I just don't play a lot of online (outside of mmos) due to finding I don't have the reflexes/coordination at 37 that I had at 12, on the NES.

Well worth the price, the intensity and pace is way higher than L4D. There is more teamplay by design compared to L4D, so I would say well worth the money.

Terribly addictive.

I found the gameplay in the base package very repetitive and simplistic. I think if the FPS mechanics were a little deeper or at least the event design then I would have enjoyed it more. The way they implemented endless spawning was especially annoying. Played with some friends for a day but we all agreed we would never revisit.

The real problem is getting to rank 115+ in the first place. You are likely to get kicked out of every single lobby you join because you will start out at a low level. For some reason high level players forget that they too were at a low level once and they had to play to reach their higher level.

I guess it's okay to play it during a Steam sale rush when there will be lots of newbies around to play with. However, once the rush subsides, you'll be left with a tiny community of players that will not play with you unless you managed to reach a very high level beforehand. Best to get this game if you have 3 other friends you can play with... else skip it imo.

Too late, took way to long to add content, customization was first hyped and it was shit...

Only reason you can get games now is the sales, once they stop the game stops.

I am fairly certain their main reasoning was to prevent fractioning of the playerbase which could lead to people and both camps finding it hard to find enough people to play with, and ultimately shortening the lifespan of their game making it harder to sell future DLCs.

They went a bit too far with the pricing, they should have put out there bigger that it's enough that the host has the content for everyone to play.

Perhaps it would have been a MUCH better idea for them to ask for $2.5 and need everyone to have the DLC to play. I'm sure they'd sell a lot more.

Very nice game otherwise.

The action is the juice, as the game says. L4D versus style intensity without any ragequitting (since everyone is working together).

Game owns. The two new maps are high intensity, and that you just have to join on someone hosting with them is a perfect business plan. Get the DLC if you want the new gear, just play the game if you don't.

For $5 it's...a steal. To pardon the pun.

I'm not sure how you could compare co-op to versus... The 'intensity' in L4D comes from the fact that you're playing against real people.
