How much is Blue's News worth? Blue better sell it before its value goes down.

Actually sold for about $16m in all.
Read a few articles from Techcrunch now that have left me thinking they're pretty financially savvy, relative to most non-business sites anyway (and even a few of those tbh).

Well, either that or they're checking things instead of just coming across some factoid and posting it on the assumption that it's the whole story...

er anyway, ty for link

obligatory Reddit Enhancement Suite FTW plug...

I'm not feeling any need for a redesign since using that. No major changes, everything's just about the same but better.

Reddit's still okay but it has gone way downhill. Arguably about since that time Digg were having problems and loads of their users went over, but probably more fair to say it's just due to the expanding userbase.

And just to show that some people don't learn their lessons, the Gawker sites have been doing the same thing over the past few months. They've redesigned to the point of unusability.

Meanwhile, Reddit, which could really use an interface re-haul, seems to be gaining in popularity.

Wow, found this on /. this morning...

In 2008, Google was reportedly set to buy it for $200 million.

Way to fuck that up!

I used to go to Digg once in a while before the change, but it was really bad. Around that time I discovered Reddit and haven't looked back since. I really like Reddit, but you really have to look for good subreddits. There are thousands of them, and the default ones are pretty bad since they automatically have the most people.

Yeah, the worst thing about community driven websites is generally the community.

I never got the whole redesign bitching... It wasn't a huge deal in my opinion. And yes I've read the top dugg articles about how it's terrible and why. Also the exposés of upvoting leagues and bots etc...

I think it just had far more to do with reddit showing up at the same time and being better. And no I don't read reddit. More of a fazed.net follower.

I don't think there's ever been a site redesign that hasn't had very vocal criticism. Web site users tend to whine when they're disturbed in their little ruts and you can't just take criticism as constructive - just look at the outcry any time Facebook moves something by a few pixels.

I can see what you mean but with Digg, the difference can be felt even to this day. Front page stories have less than half the diggs they used to get, certain websites (like totalprosports and blogspam site bullshit) seem to have nearly guaranteed front page submissions regardless of diggs which removes the whole user-submitted aspect, and most of the news is never on time unless submitted by Digg staff.

It just feels so incredibly broken with a completely different feel since V4 and I'm surprised they were even able to offload this turd for 500k.
