Resistance will give you let's say 50% damage reduction. Then if you want a comparable vitality item, you want that item to give you double the vitality. Not 5%.
Uh, your math is a bit off there. Effective HP is a little more complicated than that. The more resistance you have, the more EHP each point of vitality gives you. The more vitality you have, the more EHP each point of resistance gives you.
You can't really take a piece of gear and make the resistance or vitality equal, because it depends on what other gear the person has. If I have a ton of resistances and crap vitality, then a cheap vitality piece is going to blow away even a strong resistance piece.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?
