Diablo III Game Limit Dropped - EU RMAH Friday

Eurogamer has word that the European version of the Diablo III real-money auction house will launch on Friday. Also, Blizzard announces that they have temporarily dropped a recently added limitation on the number of Diablo III games a player can start during a given period. The limit was intended to reduce server strain and improve overall game stability, but apparently this was not working as intended:
After looking into some reports from players it seems the limit may have not been working exactly as intended. Working properly you really shouldn't see it, even in fairly normal 'farming' conditions, or reasonable amounts of character swapping. We're shutting off the limitations off until we can take a better look at it tomorrow.

I think this was aimed at botting but the limit won't really affect bots, they will just do longer routes. It might affect people doing AutoIT/AHK scripts but I think they can just do some time randomization to get around it, we'll see I guess. It's a pretty common player tactic in Inferno to reset games until you get manageable champion affixes as many combos aren't beatable right now so I hope they leave this off the table until Inferno gets rebalanced.

Any Authenticator from Blizzard works. WoW, SC2, etc, all work with Diablo 3 and vice versa.

Except the dial-in authenticator, which is still listed as only supporting WoW and SC2 (strangely enough).

Not only is your single player game online only, but you are even limited to how many times you can play it. LOL Boy, that's rich.

Good thing its not required to do RMAH then if you use paypal. Weirdly enough its only required if you put the money into battle.net balance.

Seems opposite of the way it should go, seems like it should be MORE security for converting into real cash, not less. After all, if someone hacked an account and spent all the battle.net balance on buying digital blizzard games (which would automatically tie to account), that could always be reversed by blizzard.

You don't need a refund when you can sell some items worth more than the copy itself.

After grinding hours and hours for said item, sure. You'll need to quit your job if you want to be successful.

Nope. Everything I sold was obtained from how I would have normally played the game, people are just being that dumb with their money. I did do some chest farming around retail launch but that was gear for my character anyway. Even shitty blues were moving yesterday, it is a sellers market right now. I said make back the cost of a copy btw, not quit your career and play a videogame for minimum wage all day.

Speaking of the limit, if someone is trying to legit farm some gold, I've seen youtubes of spots where you can do a 5 minute run for a decent amount. So that would be 20 games in an hour. If the limit is anything smaller its going to effect legit players.

Lemme get this straight...

They make the game always online with no option to play local, then limit the number of times you can reset the level (start a new game), which you would be doing to farm items to face the higher difficulty levels, because their server infrastructure can't keep up with the demand...

BUY MORE F#CKING SERVERS YOU USELESS ASSHOLES

Seriously, if they're making it compulsory to play on their servers, they should have enough headroom for you to start the game as many times as you like.

And for all those who would leap to Blizz's defense and waffle on about how they don't want to overprovision etc, f#ck em. They wouldn't need anywhere near as much infrastructure if there was a local version of the game for people who wanted to play singleplayer/non-bnet MP.

What they want to do is control deflation. Keeping things artificially scarce drives up prices which increases their revenues. That's how scummy this company has become. And people support it. Wow, just wow.

Uh I've already cleared my first $1k and I still work. I'd say I've been successful. As a point though, that's only about 1/4 of my normal weekly wage before taxes. I'm still waiting to hear back from CRCA to see if I need to declare this on my taxes for next year though.
