It was reminiscent of GTA4 when I saw it the first time, I don't know what more you are implying.
If you didn't notice the influence from Rockstars game, well sry.
Furthermore, the devs were either influenced by the game or knew what they were by giving it that look/vibe, GTA succeeded well.

Have you played GTA4? Or any GTA game? I've played them all and I definitely don't recall any real stealth gameplay. Or the ability to hack stuff. Hell, in the Watch Dog demo, the player doesn't even use a vehicle until the very end of the demo. The tone of the game is also completely different. Again, just because an open-world game takes place in a city doesn't mean it's copying GTA4.

One last time, "visually", it's the first thing I thought when I "saw" it, because it reminded me of it by a brain process called association. If you don't like that it visually reminded me of it, then too bad, if you don't believe me, too bad. I'm sorry that saying it looks like GTA, offends you for reasons unknown.

As for being unsure about the game, that was due to not recognizing the fun factor, not anything to do with it's visual style.

Edit: I noticed my first comment was "Too obviously copying GTA4", it was in reference to initial visual style impression, anyway it was poor wording, it was kind of a follow-up to a previous post.
I can see where I started some confusion, sry. Discounting an unknown game as a GTA clone would be ignorant at best, so I can see where some confusion crept in.

Looking reminiscent of the GTA world will probably work in their favor, I was thinking they may have copied the world style on purpose so that people would associate it, but maybe it's just past influence of playing Mafia/GTA style worlds.

Too obviously copying GTA4, gets people quickly associating their like of that game with this one.
Kids like hacking, but do any of us really want more of that?

What? Being an open-world game set in a modern city doesn't automatically make you a GTA clone. People are interested in Watch Dogs because it seems to offer a lot of things that open-world games typically don't. Open-ended missions with multiple solutions, compelling stealth gameplay and the ability to interact with and manipulate the environment in meaningful ways. Whether or not the final game actually lives up to this potential has yet to be seen but immediately dismissing the game as a GTA clone is pretty dumb.

Accusing someone of calling it a clone, it being dumb, well thats just...

Saw several interviews on it. It's definitely good to see something different.
Seemed quite intelligent in some interviews.

There is something in the pit of my stomach on this one, it's not near as obvious to me as the insane Spore hype from E3 years back, but it's more about what we didn't see.

Just like in the reveal of spore, I am not able to visualize the fun factor here, besides the idea of messing with people in the game world, I didn't see the fun factor beyond that, no thrills, etc.

Too obviously copying GTA4, gets people quickly associating their like of that game with this one.

I'm dealing with a hack on my main PC for the last two days, like I haven't personally seen in the last 20 years.
It was amazing, just about every tool I ever used as a network administrator in 15 years got dropped on my box (tons of premiere network sniffing prog, many pw rippers, every remote control tool, etc). Tried ripping all my passwords, mirrored and stole entire drives worth of data, then drives 'really' started actually failing. My wife isn't very security conscience, nor does it take much, so shit happens. Some shit AV could stop, but alot of new/undetectable/unknown virus's, some of which only Eset finds. Hopefully this isn't THE MAN. Fun Fun Fun.

So, personally not a fan of a game promoting hackers/hacking.
More shooters please, with a game where I can actually find the damn hackers and shoot them, Thx.

Iirc, it sort of looked like GTA4, but with technology based story.

I am REALLY looking forward to this title... The premise looks good, and I liked the fact that they've pretty much let the IP gel out of the public eye until now.

My only fear is that they become history with outside pressure based on "focus group studies, " now that the design is in the Wild.

The game was shown on PC at E3, so I imagine you don't have to worry about it being a port of the X360 version.

I'm guessing a launch game for next-gen consoles as well as a current-gen version, kind of like Gun and King Kong at the launch of the 360. Hopefully the PC version is built off the Xbox 3 version... King Kong on PC was a port of the PS2 version so more computers could run it.

DX3 was excellent!

Is this new IP a DX9 game or is it using newer DX11 features?

It was running on PC, using DX11 features for the E3 demo etc.

So it's going to be a great game that sells well and is well received by fans and critics alike? I'll take a fiasco like that.

What? DX3 was well-received. DX2 was a fiasco but I don't really see how that relates to WatchDogs.

There was an interview on GameSpot where the devs stated that there other ways to kill the target, like hacking into a drawbridge and raising it, forcing the van to stop and wait while you snipe them from a distance. I too have doubts as to how open-ended the final game will be but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Great, certainly looking forward to see how this one turns out. It has a lot of potential but I'm concerned that they game were be anywhere near as freeform as the trailer implied. Even so, as long as the narrative is decent - and it certainly seems to be - it should be a strong game. I really hope they can match people's expectations.
