You guys might want to look at the design diagrams showing the controller from all angles before writing it off as uncomfortable.

The backside is ergonomically molded and the majority of people in the industry who've actually held it in their hands have been, for the most part, positive towards it as far as comfort/weight goes.

The pic is to show that one of the main early complaints about the thing, the old 3DS-esque circle pads, have been replaced (along with some secondary buttons that were previously in awkward places) with actual analogs.

Yep. Nintendo was pretty ahead of the curve with the DS and the Wii (and even to some extend with 3ds, although pretty bad game lineup there). This feels obsolete and its not out yet. And I'm a fanboy, what are the haters going to think...

Yeah I tend to agree. I really like Nintendo as a company, they don't always get it right but they generally try to innovate and I like their principles with regards to selling the gamer a complete experience instead of piecemeal content.

Unfortunately I want nothing to do with that controller, it just looks uncomfortable and bulky. Reminds me of when my brother bought a Virtual Boy.

When will Nintendo get their head out their asses and sell some old titles for the iOS or Android....

People want better games on these mobile platforms and the sales show hardcore games sell well.

Nintendo is like apple, and they make their money from hardware. They're not about to let that go...

The complaint, though, is akin to people bitching that HBO, who makes their money from subscribers, isn't putting their stuff online.

they should just make the control pad a portable gaming system with the ability to connect wireless onto a station that will handle 1080p output to a TV. i dont mind having buttons on a tablet gaming system. tapping a touch screen constantly gets painful quicker than buttons. plus sticks and buttons wont make your fingers cover part of the screen during gameplay.

Unless they upgrade the hardware, they are basically releasing a new system that will be comparable to the last generation in performance...

And look at that picture; it is an ugly tablet and it is a real failure as controller.

Looking to the group/family element it tried to aim at previously, the system is obviously not designed for multiple pads - this is easily a single player only system or a limited multiplayer (at the same couch) system.

Is Nintendo expecting developers to make two versions of all the games - one specifically built around the tablet and one for everybody else? Even then, does Nintendo expect that separate version to be the superior lead platform?

Maybe Nintendo will pull it off, but this initially feels like one of its bigger failures. I really wanted to powerful system that did a full 1080P with something closer to a standard controller and, if it was going to stick with the motion control, 1:1 performance. Anyting less and I would rather go with the next Xbox/Playstation/PC setup.
Will this be the first Nintendo console I don't purchase?
Hoping Nintendo surprises me, but not expecting much,
Ray

The problem Nintendo is going to face with the Wii U is that it's not an ipad.
