Ships Ahoy - Diablo III

Battle.net announces the extended wait for Diablo III is now over, and the action/RPG sequel should now be available worldwide. For anyone getting error messages from the game, this article may help you work out what's wrong, and here's word on the release:
Twenty years have passed since the Prime Evils were defeated and banished from the world of Sanctuary. Now you must return to Tristram and investigate rumors of a fallen star, an omen that the End Times have begun.

Diablo III is now live and available at a store near you -- or you can click here to purchase a digital copy directly through Blizzard. The game is available at retailers in both a standard and Collector's Edition. Joytiq staggered launch woes

The above was from a quick Google and not even checking the official forums or anywhere else for issues from launch day.

How quickly people forget that even though servers were up, there were long queues and some people simply just could not log on because of the staggered launch. I'd say people that couldn't log on for DAYS after launch would disagree with you that SWOTR launch didn't have it's own problems.

Nevermind that SWOTR did not see the numbers Diablo 3 is seeing.

SWTOR? Of course you'll just hedge and claim it wasn't a major online game or something idiotic like that.

I was on and playing day 1, no disconnects, no wall of error messages telling me to wait, no repeatedly bringing the servers down for maintenance.

I can just imagine how well it would have gone over if Blizzard had limited pre-orders to only those they would approve, and then staggered the launch over the course of 7 days only allowing you to play based on when you pre-ordered.

Depends on what people qualify as a 'normal' person. I make sure I do every dungeon in the game. I figure it'll take me more than 12-15.

Indeed, and I think we can agree that Koreans aren't exactly "normal" gamers.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was longer. It's taken me more than 4hrs to get through to the second level of the cathedral.

Well, lets see...it has been up since Midnight, and now is down for maintenance for 3 hours. 82% uptime out of the gate. Not bad.

How many days was the PS3 network down?
How many days was Ubi down?

Argument totally holds water.

4 hours of maintenance, not 3, it's down again, by the way. Beyond that, what does it matter if it's up if you're spending an hour plus spamming at the login screen just in the hopes of getting in? That's somehow better?

And Sony got sued over that incidentally, not a great argument.

Name one game that hasn't had issues at launch in the last 10 years.

Downtime in mid afternoon on the first day? So what. It isn't as though people don't have things they SHOULD be doing anyway....let me guess...you didn't buy it...

You bought a new game and can't play it?!? Well, you should be doing something else anyway, what are you complaining about?

You paid for this movie ticket and the theater wouldn't let you in? What are you complaining about, you should be doing something else anyway!

You paid for this CD, and can't listen to the music on it? What are you complaining about, there are other things to hear anyway!

Come on. It's ridiculous for everything else people do for entertainment, why is it ok for gaming?

I can name ten online games that were playable at launch. Give me some time and I can do twenty. That argument doesn't hold water.

You've conveniently ignored the fact that "issues" doesn't equate to being completely unable to play. Have other games had bugs? Sure. Did those bugs prevent me from playing said game for half a day? No, that's pretty much just WoW and Diablo 3.

NO it isn't. UBI Games. I am sure someone knows a list off of the top of their head, I just don't care.

Excellent. Yet another "I'm going to make an outlandish claim, then say I'm too cool to back up what I say with any actual facts." Good job making yourself look credible.

There isn't a single AAA Online game that hasn't had major issues launch day. Most of those still never even saw the numbers that are hitting the D3 servers.

I'm sure this game will be fine, but I'm not as excited about it as I was when it was announced. I think I can wait. There have been some good movies coming out lately. I might hit a theater instead.

I feel sorry for everyone you bought into this shit, because the name is "Diablo 3", and they didn't even think twice about it before purchasing.

Blizzard could put a pile of poop in the game, and you'd still love it.

Don't buy into online-drm, guys. lol

I can't remember ever buying one game that didn't launch; in more like 35 years of gaming, including the pinball machines when pixels weren't around.
What sounds strange about that statement compared to yours?

I've bought hundreds and none have stopped me from launching what I paid for when they said it is actually released, except with Starforce DRM, and apparently for many people, Diablo 3 online only SP. This isn't a bug.
