Nice to see people interested in games with challenge instead of 'awesome buttons' on Blues News. I was surprised because I thought this had slowly degraded into a console site over the last few years.

I really wanted to give the DayZ mod a shot, but too many games at the moment.
BTW: I think I read that the whole zombies (AI) running through walls is a limitation of the game engine and can't be fixed. Is that true?
If the engine detects that the AI is stuck against an object or otherwise it might allow the AI to pass through nearby objects briefly just to get them unstuck. It doesn't always happen but if you see it, that's why.
It could also just be lag\de sync, if you're getting hit and the enemy isn't close by.
Clipping generally has been a longstanding "quirk" of the engine.

Frijoles, hit me up later if you are on, I will join ya. Or anyone who is playing it for that matter....
RailWizard wrote on May 14, 2012, 13:31:Give it a go, make it for us. If its even half as good as day z looks, I'd play it.
DayZ should've been built on Frostbite 2. That would've been epic. Then again, I guess destruction would not be so good in a persistent game. lol Welcome to flat land.

I haven't really done any research on the game, do you have to collect food, make shelter and whatnot? It sounds interesting but Diablo 3 is pretty close.
You have to find food/water/ammo. You don't really need shelter. Most of the buildings you do find either have zombies in them or you just can't enter them (no opening door). That's a very annoying thing about it. You can come across a small town, but only 1 or 2 buildings have a door. I hope that's just due to having to place all the buildings (that is, a time constraint) and not an engine constraint.
I think some groups have taken over some of the locations in the game to create a safe area. Dunno how that works though since the only human I've found shot me in the head.
RailWizard wrote on May 14, 2012, 13:31:And EA would have surely allowed that, right? They are so open to modding. The company that said the engine was too complex and the modders too dumb to use it, so they weren't going to bother with tools.

I might give a shit about what deqer thinks about my purchases when he goes to work every day for me
Besides, he would likely approve of my strategy - I bought a regular and a CE, I'm just going to flip the CE on ebay later
